Greek Week events rescheduled

Old man winter glazed the streets
of NT, forcing the university to close
and the Panhellenic Association's
Greek Week to be canceled. Greek
Week, in which all universities across
the country participate, has taken
place since the '60s. However, this
year's events will be rescheduled for a
later date.
However, the rescheduled dates of
the events are currently unknown but
should be determined by Monday.
Throughout the entire week, the
Panhellenic Association will be hav-
ing a penny war in which proceeds
will also go to the Elizabeth Glazer
Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
Events and the day on which the
event will take place are as follows:
Monday- "Buy In or Stay Out," at
which a speaker will discuss the
responsibility of joining Greek organ-
izations and will encourage activeness
within the group because of the
money that people pay to become a
member.
Tuesday- Greek organizations
going to local restaurants On the
Border, Texas Roadhouse,
Applebee's, Cantina Del Sol and
Good Eats to solicit money for the
Elizabeth Glazer Pediatrics Aids
Foundation. Each restaurant will
donate 10 percent of each person's
ticket to benefit the foundation.
Wednesday- Greek Toga Day and
Yell Contest between the Men's Gym
and the Physical Education Building.
Thursday- The Panhellenic
Association will have a can food castle
contest. Each group will be allowed
to use 200 cans and will be judged on
creativity and originality. The compe-
tition will benefit the Denton Food
Bank.
Friday- Greeks participate in the
Eagle Escapades, a dance and stomp
competition. This event is open to
the public.
Saturday- Greek Week will con-
clude with the Greek Games.
Organizations will play Twister, have
a Chariot Contest and other games so
that the organizations get to have fun
with each other.

Engineers raised Columbia Wing Concerns
WASHINGTON (AP) — One day before the Columbia disaster, senior NASA engi-
neers raised concerns that the shuttle's left wing might burn off and cause the deaths
of the crew, describing a scenario much like the one investigators believe happened.
They never sent their warnings to NASA's brass. "Why are we talking about this on the
day before landing and not the day after launch?" wrote William C, Anderson, an
employee for the United Space Alliance LLC, a NASA contractor, less than 24 hours
before the shuttle broke apart,
U.S. rejects Deadline for Iraq to disarm
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Bush administration on Wednesday dismissed a com-
promise proposal by Canada to set an end-of-March deadline for Iraq to comply with
U.N. disarmament demands. After Secretary of State Colin Powell conferred by tele-
phone with Foreign Minister Bill Graham, State Department spokesman Richard
Boucher said the proposal "only procrastinates on a decision we all should be pre-
pared to make."
Suspicious fire at nursing home kills 10
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A suspicious fire ripped through a nursing home
before daybreak Wednesday, killing 10 people and forcing more than 100 residents ~
some of them bedridden, elderly and confused -- into the freezing cold, A resident was
being questioned by police about the fire. The blaze at the Greenwood Health Center
also injured 23 people, seven critically. Many of the injured were already chronically ill.

House of commons backs Blair on Iraq
LONDON (AP) — The House of Commons backed Prime Minister Tony Biair's
determination to disarm Iraq, voting Wednesday to support his handling of the crisis
and reject his opponents' assertion that the case for war is "unproven." Blair prevailed
despite a substantial rebellion within his Labor Party's ranks, mirroring the divisions
which opinion polls have demonstrated in the wider British public.
Four charged in sending millions to Iraq
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Four Arab men were indicted Wednesday on federal
charges that they illegally sent at least $4 million to Iraq through a Syracuse-area char-
ity called Help the Needy. In other news, a University of Idaho graduate student was
indicted for allegedly failing to disclose on his visa application his relationship with an
organization that operates Web sites praising suicide bombings.
Bush administration believes North Korea has nuclear weapons
WASHINGTON (AP) — North Korea has reactivated a reactor at its main nuclear
complex, the first step toward production of additional nuclear weapons, U.S. officials
said Wednesday.
North Korea currently has the ability to produce five or six plutonium bombs from
8,000 spent fuel rods in a matter of a few months.
The new step, disclosed by two officials familiar with North Korea's military activi-
ties, could enable the Koreans to build additional weapons in about a year. The admin-
istration believes that North Korea now has one or two nuclear weapons.
