Professor Cooke and his company of
wonder-workers are announced to ap-
pear at Turner Opera llouso Sunday
night next In their grand series or the
most remarkable nitinlfesttttlons or the
seance room all of which will be given
In broad light. The hrofessorcomeB with
unusually strong endorsements from New
Orleans Galveston Houston and other
lending cities and the people of this
city can therefore rely on the lineal ex-
hibitions In that line ever seen In this
country l'rofessor Cooke brings with
hint the accomplished mind-reader and
Impresslonal medium Miss Louise Ilre-
mond whose marvels of mental phe-
nomena have astonished the scientific
circles of both hemispheres. This lady
presents seven different phrases of men-
tal tests which Is live more than any
other lady or person has ever been
known to attempt. Among these she
reads and gives Intelligent answers to
sieretly written nnd sealed qmstlona
written by any number of persons In tbo
audience. She adds Instantly any sum
of figures running Into millions and bil-
lions and other equally remarkable fea-
tures. During these tests she sits blind-
folded on the stage.
At Galveston the Tremont Opera-
housu was filled and the News says:
"I'rofeisor Cooke entertained the vntt
audience In a most royal manner lead-
ing them from one mystery intonnotber
In such rapid succession that It was per-
fectly bewildering. The beautiful feat-
ures of mind-reading by the modest little
lady Miss llremond carries the house
by storm. There is no sham about the
whole show l'rercssor Cooke in his
wonderful cabinet nnd physical manifes-
tations Is great and the whole perform-
ance Is of the highest order" They
hti e placed the price at a low figure and
onu can be sure of being well repaid by
seeing them. 1-10 2t

Educational Reform.
There Is something wrong In the edu-
cational system of this country when
the Idea prevails to such an alarming ex-
tent among young men that an educated
man should always follow some business
or profession that does not Involve
manual labor. It Is time for a change
and the schools should be transformed
aid made capable of turning out strong
robust and well educated farmers engin-
eers mechanics miners carpenters
architects and blacksmiths rather than
consumptive and sentimental dudes wbe
know more about Greek and conic sec-
tions limn they do about how to grease
a wagon or make a hoe handle. There
Is no such thing as too much education
but the great need of the age Is that It
be given u more practical and available
turn. The object of education should
not be to keep a man from labor but to
make him a better laborer and a hap-
pier and nobler man. Green vlll Banner.
