Plotz wins Law Review editorship
Michael Plotz has been selected by the Law Review
Editorial Board to serve as editor-in-chief for 1991-92.
Other members of next year's Editorial Board include
Beth Boswell, managing editor; Blanche Duett, Hal
Hargis, Cindy Hellstern and David Stone, article editors;
Scott Cordes, research editor; Suzi Lehman, Lana
Shadwick and David Wallace, note and comment editors;
and Mark Miller, business manager.
Anthony Lopez wins HLSA presidency
Anthony Lopez was elected president of the Hispanic
Law Students Association in balloting held March 19.
Other new HLSA officers are Terry Fox, vice-president;
Julie Gonzales, secretary; Tanya Urquieta, historian; Joe
Garcia, parliamentarian; and Robert Loughran, SBA
representative.
Phi Delta Phi initiates members April 5
The Honorable Keith T. Dean of the 265th Judicial
District will be the special guest speaker at the Phi Delta
Phi initiation at 7 pm in Garrett-Townes Auditorium.

Houston Bar sponsors fun run April 13
The sixth annual Houston Law Week Fun Run will be
held at Sam Houston Park on Saturday, April 13, at 8 am.
The 8k run is sponsored by the Houston Bar
Association, Davis Reporting and Video Service and Stop
N Go.
In addition to the 8K run, a 1-Mile walk/run will also
be held. Entry fees are $12 for the 8K run and $10 for
the 1-mile walk. A runner and a walker can sign up
together for $20. Each entrant receives a T-shirt and
refreshments after the race.
Proceeds will benefit The Center for the Retarded.

Bar seeks volunteers for June convention
Volunteers are needed for the State Bar of Texas
Annual Convention.
The convention will be held at the George R. Brown
Convention Center, June 19-22.
Crystal Griffin, a staff member in the Student Affairs
Office, said students, faculty and staff are all invited to
volunteer. Volunteers can attend all of the seminars for
free.
Volunteer duties include giving directions, handing out
name tags, being greeters and answering questions. There
are three shifts to choose from: morning, afternoon or
evening. Each shift is about four hours long.

Breen-Van Natter team takes the title
in Fisher, Gallagher mock trial tourney
Talk may be cheap, it
certainly has paid off for
Sean Breen.
Last semester he and
David Vallance won the
Leroy Jeffers Moot Court
Competition as Breen
captured the Top Individual
Speaker award.
Just before spring break
began, Breen and Shelly Van
Natter won the Fisher,
Gallagher, Perrin & Lewis
Mock Trial Competition, and
Breen again won the top
speaking award. Van Natter
took second place in this
category and team member
Darin Darby was named Best
Witness. Rob Galloway was
the other witness on the
winning team.
Keith Grady and Charles
Stinneford were the
advocates for the second
place team. They were fifth
and sixth, respectively, in the
speaking category. David
Bryant and Kiri Martin were
their witnesses.
Semi-finalist teams were
Kevin Acker, Trey Book,
Dana Hanslik and Carol
Janecek and Rich Fass, Clay
Grover, Reid Martin and
Brett Thomas.
Quarter-finalist teams were
Dean Blumrosen, Richard
Kennedy, Chris Peck and
Doug Rankin; Susan Durr,
David Falk, Anthony Lopez
and Robert Loughran; Jeff
Fanaff, Jeff House, Tracy
Moore and Scott Woods;
and Leslie Hendry, Karen
Longo, Matthew Prewett and
Johnny Tipton.

celebrate their Fisher, Gallagher championship.

finish second in the Fisher, Gallagher Mode Trial Competition.
