AT CLUB'S ANNUAL DINNER; WELL EXCITES
DR. CATHCART IS PRESIDENT i OKLAHOMANS
DR. J W. CATHCART was installed
e.3 president of the Kiwants club
at the annual dinner of that or-
ganization Thursday night in the
main dining: room of the Toltec club.
At the same time 6am Gillett who
has been the dab's president for a
year formally retired from office.
About 100 Kiwanians and their wives
or best girls were at the dinner.
On his retirement Mr. Gillett was
presented with a silver loving; cup
Vy Norman Walker on behalf of the
c ub. Mr. Walker presided at the
dinner. J A. Smith who is Mr. Q11-
lett's competitor m the dairy bosl-
rss presented Mr. Gillett with a
pint of milk. He did this Mr. Smith
said eo Mr. Gillett conld have some
real milk to put in his loving cup.
After the loving cup was given to
the retiring president J. Harry Hen-:
derson presented Dr. Cat heart with
a Kiwanis pin Charles A. Br&nn
then presented Mr. Gillett with the
pat president's button. j

In his farewell address as president
Mr. Gillett said the life of KIwanis
"i El Paso was similar to the seven
apes of man spoken of in "As Tou
Like It." by Shakspere. except that
Ki wan:; wai not going to have a de-
rhne He told his club brothers he
had done his best and asked them to
fcrg-ive his mistakes. The Kiwanfs
iub presidents previous to Mr. Gil-
lett were J. W. Kirkpatrick J. W.
ieak and Rev. P. R Knickerbocker.

Mr. Knickerbocker took for his

the new well.

sulted in five wells ffnding- the Wil-
cox sand. The Knsa Smelter com-
pany's Hawkins farm well Is flowing

A 6S0 barrel producer has been
brought in by the WOcox Oil and Gas
company north of the KelleyvDIe dis-
trict. Creek county at a depth of 3800
feet. In the same district the Gladys
Belie Oil company's test Is showing
for a good well.
The Gill Hand Oil company has a 300
barrel well and a 100 barrel well In
Osaee count v. The Wilson interests
have a 125 barrel well on the Miller
farm. Kellerville district ureeK
count v.
The Lone Star Gas company's well
in stepnens county is mautng1 iy
barrels. In the Cashing- district the
Pure Oil company's No. 3 Bills is
flowing; 60 barrels. The Morgan well
No. 2 Smith Jeanln&rs district. Is
flowing- 76 barrels.
In the Billings district. Noble
county a 100 barrel well has been
brought in by the Mid-Co Petroleum
company.

Eliasvllle Texas. Jan. 7. The Mid-
Kansas Oil company ku another rood
well in the new pool naif a mile sooth
of Ellasvllle. The well U flowing SM

coming: from the 3246 foot level.

NEW OIL WELL
IS BROUGHT IN
AT DESDEMONA
Ranter. Texas. Jan. 7. The 300 bar-
rel well Just brought in by the Mag-
nolia Petroleum company on its Geno-
way lease is the best completion in
the Desdemona pool for some time.
The well is flowing from a sand
picked up at 3000 feet. The Duke
sand encountered at 2700 feet was
passed np as non-productive.
The drillers report that there Is
sufficient gas at the well to bring
the oil op. The spray can be seen
from the center of Desdemona. There-
are two small wells on the Genoway
lease.
Oil STampaates Merge.
Houston. Texas. Jan. 7. The ISM-
barrel producer of the Texas company
in the West Columbia field Is the
source of much interest among oil
men of the coastal fields. It ia be-
lieved that a new strata of oil has
been struck in this well. The oil
is of a much higher gravity than that
fonnd in other stratas of the pool
registering 3s. The new well Is pro-
ducing from a depth of 8705 feet.
The 2500 barrel well just completed
at Bine Ridge by the Gulf Produc-
tion company proves that the old
field has not yet seen its best days.
There is much interest in that terri-
tory. The largest oil deal put through in
this territory In months waa male
when the General Producing company
capital stock 31.ft0O.0OO; the Bethle-
hem company the Great Western and
th nHeina Old Dominion the last
three named being capitalised at 3350.-
000 each were mergec into wnax win

sources of the Frost Johnson Lumber
