Death of o Child.
In yesterday's Isstfe there Was a
brief mention of the death of the lit-
tle daughter of Mr. Roland of De-
voignes. The Dentson Herald of yester-
day has this t.o say of the death:
"Ona Roland, aged 9 years, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Roland, who
live four miles south of town, died
quite suddenly yesterday evening.
The beginning of ber illness was a
chill on Sunday evening. Yesterday
she was attacked with a kind of chok-
ing spell, from which ahe died. The
burial will take place at Dripping
Springs at 4 o'clock this afternooh."

Some time ago citizens in College
Park in order to secure an extension
of mains Into tbeir part of the city fur-
bished the necessary amount of money
to put the same in, taking from the
city certificates for an amount in
water equal to what they had put in
the pipe and construction of the main
extension, said certificates to be good
for one fear. Last night it devélojwvl
that the year had elapsed and tft&t
several unused, certificates are still
held. The council last night extended
the redemption time two years on all
such certificates.
Some minor matters were reported
relative to impounding of stock.
The city attorney was instructed
to draw up a notice to the legislature
that Sherman will ask the next session
to amend the charter so the Issuance
of enough bonds to build a system of
sewerage will be legal.

PROHIBITION AT POTT8BORO.
The Result Will Not be Declared Un-
til Nsx Week.
There were 43 votes for and 34
/otes against local option In tho Potts-
'k>ro election held last Saturady. The
result will not be officially declared
until the meeting of the county com-
missioners next week, and so thirty
lays notice must be given. The law
will not take effect before tho middle
of November.
Some time since the grand Jury in
apprehension that the local option law
prevailing at Pottsboro would be de-
clared Invalid, returned Indictments
tgainst W. C. Joliff chargelng him with
jelling liquor there without license.
When the law Was set aside and the
Aaaes against him for alleged violation
of the local option law were conse-
quently dismissed, these emergency
charges were brought forward Dr.
Joliff proceeded to take out license
dating back to tho time when tbe in-
dictments alleged he first sold with-
out license. County Judge Woods to-
day in answer to a question by a Reg-
ister representative, said that he had
not yet passed on whether or not the
taking out of tbe license would be a
bar to prosecution on the indictments.

Legislature of the Chlckaaaw nation
has adopted '£. resolution providing for
arbitrating the value of the lands used
by the St; Louis, Oklahoma and South-
ern railway, Or the Frisco eutenslott,
trom Holdeuviile south through the
Cblckaaaw nation.
The right of way act under which
the road in being built provides that
upon filing maps of definite location ot
tbe line, the railway shall tender the
sum of (60 per mile for the lands so
used, and that if the tribes feel that

majority is the voto the democratic
