The Beuistkb is in receipt of a sea-

reads "Editor and lady:" SecreUry

Sawdust Briquettes.
In the large sawmills of Joseph Ft
alia. In Austria, the sawdust Is util
ized by being made up into briquettes;
these form a good combustible for
boiler furnaces for household use.
The sawdust Is Impregnated with
mixture of tarry substances and heat-
ed to the proper temperature; it is
then passed over a plate of Iron heateii
by steam, from which a screw convey-
or takes it to the screw press, where It
Is compressed into briquettes of the
required size. The press turns out
nineteen per minute, weighing two-
fifths of a pound each and measuring
by 26 by 1% Inches. The calorlflo
power is about the same as that of lig-
nite, with but 4 per cent of ash. Ths
factory turns out more than 6,000,000
briquettes a year; the cost is about 1#
cents per thousand, and the selling
price reaches $1, leaving a consider
able margin of profit.

certain portions of the road and
bridge fund, have asked the co-opera-
tion of the city of Denison. They ex-
press tha belief that the oounty com-

to turn over to the oities a pro rata
portion of the fund, or to woirk the
city streets to the extent Of a certain
value, Wreaponding in amount to
the amount of road tax colleeted from

some of those familiar with the mu

pel the commiseioners to either turn
over to the city the pro rata amonot
collected from the cities, and on oity
property, or work the streets to that
value.-—Denison Herald.
Deuison's second annual fair will
