Illgh Spirits é^d^is^ffpy Hearts
Refused le be Suppressed
by Bad Weaiber.
The good people -of.Deniaon de-
cided at a -late hour to celebrate the
Fourth of July this year, and invited
ill who desired to do so to oome and
share the pleasures. .' O-
, There were many visitors to help
them, but bad weather Interfered
with the proceedings and a portion of
the program for the day waa not car-
ried out.
f
There waa genuine rejoicing In the
Gate City, however, mostly over a
matter which was not "down on the
bills." The announcement waa made
public that the commercial organisa-
tion had ciuohed a new industry^and
as Denison is strictly in the market
for all such plums, the newa waa
hailed with alihoat as much joy aa the
beginning of operationa al the big
cation mill, and in a measure miti-
gated the aorrow which has brooded
oyer tho town since its failurh to
secure the terminus, round-house and
shops of the Frisco railway. The new
enterprise is a knitting mill, which
will consume at least ¥ portion of the
yarn manufactured by the cotton
mill. It will have a capacity of three
hundred dozen paira of hose per day,,
of three gradei—men's, women's and
children's. The mill is now in opera-
tion in Atlanta, Ga, but will be
moved to Deniaon as aoon as a house
can he constructed, the machinery
added to and operationa begun—say,
within ninety daya.
Right here the Reoisteb will ttke
occasion to assure the people of Den-
iaon that Sherman ia glad of ber suc-
cess. There exists in the jnindB of a
few people ah idea that Sherman
looks with jealous eyéa upon every
thing which tends to Deniaon'a
growth and prosperity, which is fal.ae
and unjust, and (be sooner this im-
pression is.eradicated the happier we
will be. Go ahead, Denison, and
whenever the people of Sherman have
time lor a day's outing, they will
surely remember the bibapitahle peo-
ple of. Denison and come to see
them. . — .... . —
But to get back to tho celebration.
Heavy clouds and intermittent ahow-
era spread a wet blanket, ao to speak,
over the outdooi features of the day's
pleasure,

many visitors from Sherman and
other localiliea, made an attractive
kaleidoscopic picture iu ibe park, the
bright colora of pretty costumes ever

Meeting of the Executive CommiUse
. at Fort Worth.
The exeoutive committee of the
Texaa Flouring- Millers' Association
had an executive aeaaion in I)*Uas
Tuesday.
The question of milling in traniltjJ*®*"1*
regulations waa considered and if '
committeo waa appointed to prepare
rules wbich will be submitted to the
reapectivo railroad companies for
their approval. If the regulation !
are agreed to by the railroads they
will be presented to the railroad com-
mission for consideration. The com-
mittee include# Mesara fonda and
Ditlingarcf New Braunfela, Quenlher
of Sao Antonio, McLeilan of Fort
Worth, Kaufman of Dallas, Stinnett
of Sherman and Keii of Wichita
Falla. *
The consensúa of opinion among
the millers here, today was that the
entire wheat crop of Texaa this year
would not exceed 18,000,000 buahefo,
All the milifra agree that tho Wheilt
sample this year is tbe best ever te«n
ia the stale.
Some of tboée who were ptesent dis-
cussed informally wheat and Roar
exportation. It ia conceded by sothe
that the heavy exportation of wheat.
if kept will alTect the milling in-
terests in the atate, Mr. Landa of
New Braunfela going ao far aa to say
'that it might result lu the millers
being forced - to go to other states for
their graih.. President Raeyor and
Mr. Lauda both argue that it would
be for the beat interest of the pro-
ducer to hold his wheat and sell it as
it was needed by the miller, and
thereby get belter prices.
On the queation of exportation of
Texaa flour Mr. Landa aaid that his
mill' had recently commenced theae
shipments and that twenty.five cars
had been aent out within the paat
three iisonths. He baa, be staled, on
hábd bbw order for three timos as
many cars;,- fie maintains that if the
railroads of Texaa will do a* well for
Texaa millers as they do for grain ex-
porters and millers of other etatea
that it would not be long until Texaa
would be ««porting at much flour aa
any atate in the Union.
