The board of county ooinmiMiouen
met in executive session this morning
and passed upon several road peti-
tion wbioh were filed before com-
mencement of this session, and sov
eral matters where the petitioners
bad been tardy in getting in tbeir
papers, were laid over and filed for
future work. The question of a vault in
the court house are some convenient
plaoe was next taken up and argued
upon pro and con, and finally by a
unanimous vote it was decided to
build a durable receptacle for the
preservation of the oounty records,
which are of a value not to beoalou
lated by dollora and eents, as should
they be destroyed there would
be no way to replaoe them.
The oontract for the constuction of
the samo was not awarded and neither
have the plans for the same been
fully settled upon, but it is definitely
settled that oue is to be erect I and
id a manner that will insure safety
to the county's papers. The piece
selected for the erection is in the
south side of the oourt bouse
and will occupy parts of
of tho offices at the presont time used
by the oounty clerk and tho sheriff.
Tbe areb between these two offices is
to be removed, and i the structure
placed undef it. The Rkoistkii adds
another mark on its record, and has
another one of its requests, in behalf
of tho people, sutisfied. A new jail,
state reformatory, aud others will
follow. Mark the predictiou.

discussing the new jail question, and
the Rkoistkii has the satisfaction of
knowing that there is a rift iu yos
terday's clouds, and that this matter
is noarer a spoudy consumption than
over bofore. Humanity dniuands
that such an institution he built, and
built it will he, for thank Heaven the
