John H. Craig, whose home is in
Indiana, near Indianapolis, is six feet
four and a half; inches in height and
weighs 846 pounds. He meaeur<
eight feet two inches around the hit
and eighteen inches around theankle,
He was born thirty years afeo, and
then weighed but eleven pounds.
Two years later he took a Prise at
one of Barnum's baby shows in .this
city because he weighed 206 pounds.

Nsw Yohk, Jan. 28:-—Jotin L. Suí
livan went to the office of Dr. Sayro,
today, and consulted him about hi*
broken arm. The celebrated surgeon
quickly determined that the bone had
not been set iu the best manner and
told Sullivan that he would never get
the oomplete use of the arm unless
he bad it broken again and reset.
Sullivan told the surgen to go ahead.
With a sudden twist Mr. Sayre open
ed the fraoture, and the bone was soon
reset and the arm bandaged. Sullivan
fainted with pain but was brought to
in a moment and then was sick for' a
time. Dr. Sayre explains that as the
bono was at first set it would have
been impossible for Sullivan to bring
his hand np in front of him with the
palm toward his face, and, of course,
the natural uso of the arm would bé
impedod in many ways. There is no
doubt in Dr. Sayre's mind that the
arm will now beoomo as strong and
offective as it ever was.

Something the Cltlxeiin of Sher-
man Should do.
The citizens of Texarkaua, Texas,
met in mass meeting at Ghio's opera
house last evening and expressed
with foroe and effect their disapproval
of the bill passed in congress award
ing $50,000 for the erection of a now
fodoral court building at Jefferson,
Tox The reasons they assign are
that there is no necessity for such a
building and that the court perorn
neqtly located at Jefferson was against
the interests of East Texas. A com
mitteo was appointed to suppli
cate President Cleveland to
veto, and tbo President was
notified by wire of the situation,
and he replied that be would stay his
movements for further explanations,
Accordingly committees were ap
pointed to proeeed.to Marshall, Long
view, Sulphur Springs and Pittsburg
to make known and ascertain the sen
timents upon the issu<>, when further
.correspondence will be opened with
President Cleveland. One of the
committeess will depart tonight for
Marshall and tfhé others in the morn-
ing for Sulphur Wfiugs. It is Oonfi
dently thought Chat when the full
voice of tbo peoplo of the Texarkana
district is hoard and their desires
forcibly aud correctly placsd before
the president that bis veto will be in
evitable.«
• *
This is n case exactly on a parallel
with the one iu this district, or at
least the one which it is proposed tQ
make. The low^f house has passed
% bM) locating the court in Denison,
and the remonstrate against the same
as unjust, and inequitable. The Reo
istxr trusts that if tbo bill by an acci'
dent happens to squeeze through
both of the national boUBes, that the
people of Sherman will come fiffht
to the front and pfafcty petition Pre
{dent Cleveland to withhold his sig
nature until the matter is considered
from an unbiased source. The idea
of establishing a federal court at a
point so lacking in all the prerequu
ites as Denison, is preposterous, and
bhould be fought to the bitter end.
