This year’s homecoming parade has
been affected by the change in the
parade route, an NT faculty member
said.
The parade committee is predicting
a large turnout for the football game
and is having the judging at Fouts
Field would cause traffic problems,
Susie Autry, an Advancement Center
associate, said.
Smaller entries will be judged in the
West Parking Lot on Avenue D across
from the Coliseum, while the larger
floats and entries will be judged down
Avenue E.
Monica Potter, co-chairwoman of
the homecoming committee, said, “The
new parade route is helpful for the
community and people coming for the
game because it cuts down on traffic
that may make people late for the
game.”
After being judged, the floats and
other participants will begin at Avenue
E and Prairie Street.
The parade will travel down Av-
enue E and make a right on West
Hickory Street. The parade will then
circle around the Downtown Square
and come back down West Oak Street
and end on Avenue C in West Parking.
Entries must be lined up at 9 a.m. to
be judged for the awards competition.
Judging for the competition will last
about an hour.
Participants will be judged on origi-
nality, creativity and coherence to the
theme and craftsmanship. This year’s
theme is Mean Green Eagle Spirit.
The three categories will be rated
on a scale of zero-10 with 30 points
being the highest possible points re-
