HEREFORD MERCANTILE COMPANY
HEREFORD, TEXAS
Christian Endeavor Social.
The members of the Christian
Endeavor Society and their friends
enjoyed a delightful evening last
Saturday at the home of Mrs. L. B.
Dameron. As is usual at Endeavor
socials, there were a number of
novel and interesting features. The
young ladies had previously made
a number of neckties and each
young man was required to buy one.
They had also prepared a number
of aprons which were completed
except that they were not hemmed.
One of these aprons was given to
each young man present, and a con-
test ensued to see which one could
hem his apron most skilfully. In
this contest, which occasioned a
great deal of merriment, A. J. Lips-
comb showed himself to be the most
artistic seamstress and won the
prize. The "booby" prize for the
least successful hem went to James
Head. In a game of Questions and
Answers, which followed the sewing
match, Joe Clark and Miss Verna
Owen won first place. The pleas-
ures of the evening were brought to
a fittiing climax in an old-fashioned
candy-pulling, which it is needless
to say the young people enjoyed
hugely. At a late hour the merry
party dispersed, everyone declaring
that he had not spent so pleasant an
evening in a long time.
