J. D. TUCKER DEAD.
Passes Away Suddenly at Taylor,
Texas.
J. E. Tucker and wife of Taylor,
the former being the principal owner
of the OYO ranch in Castro county,
who had intended staying at their
ranch for the summer, were called
home SUnday by the receipt of a
telegram bearing the sad intelligence
of the death of their son, J. D.
•Tucker, who is well and favorably
known here as one of the man-
agers of the above mentioned
ranch. James, as he is familiarly
known, was an upright, honest
and industrious young man, and
by thegg^terling qualities,had made
hibself popular with all his acquain-
tances, to whom his sudden death
was a great shock. The bereaved
parents have the sympaty of all in
this, their hour of sorrow. The
cause of his demise is unknown to-
us, as yet.
A New Cattle Company.
A. P. Murchison recently sold his
large bunch of cattle to T. R.
Reagan, the hustling manager of the
Hereford Manufacturing Company,
and Conner Jowell, the popular
young Hereford cattleman. We un-
derstand that these two young men
will form an organization known as
the Jowell-Reagan Cattle Company.
The Bfand wishes them unbounded
success in their new venture.
Notice.
All persons are warned against
turning their stock in my pasture
north of town without making pre-
vious arrangements with me. $1.00
per month per head will be chargcd
for pasture.
21-41 S. S. Evants.
Beginning July 1st, there'll be two
of 'em each day. Isn't that nice? tf

Advertise in The Brand
To the Public.
We wish to call the attention ot
the public that there is a nursery
here at Hereford. A home industry.
Mr. F. T. Ramsey has a large
nursery at Austin, Texas, and he is
interested here and he will supply
trees, etc., from Austin such as we
have not here. Now we spend our
money here in your town among
the merchants and business men,
and are helping to support home in-
stitutions. Why do some of you
send to foreign concerns for nursery
stock when you can get them from
us as cheap or cheaper than from
abroad? We are here to stay.
Hereford Nursery,
W. F. Stimson, Manager.
Sod Land Wheat.
Mrs. J. L. Underwood, tha wifeoi
the well known and prosperous North
Draw stock farmer, was a pleasant
visitor at this office on Tuesday and
left a sample of wheat which he raised
on sod land and whic h will yield about
ten bushels to the acre. She also left,
some oats and millet, which were
grown on second years' land, no
better than which can be grown in
any country. We took the samples
to the real estate office of the Here-
ford Land and Abstract Company,
where it can be seen to advantage
by the prospectors.
Notice.
We have on hand a complete line
of the Kingman and standard culti-
vator that we propose to close cut
for cash at 5 per cent above cost and
carriage they were bought right and
shipped in car'lots. Call early and
get choice. Respectfully
