A new universal language has
been devised which is called "Espe-
ranto" by its orig oat or s, who claim
that it possesses advantages over
any other system, including "Vola-
puk," which provoked such general
discussion about fifteen years ago.
It has similarities to English,
French and Spanish, but with all
irregularities eliminated. La Lomo,
published at Montreal, Canada, is a
monthly journal devoted to the
interests of the new language,

There is. at the present time a
crisis in the question of co-education
of the sexes. The president of
Northwestern University has warned
the trustees that a change in the
system is needed; the students at
Columbia are at open war over the
matter; Wesleyan has limited the
number of women to twenty per cent
of the total attendance, and Stanford
has placed a 500 limit on women no
matter how large the college growG.
The number of women at college is
increasing relatively more rapidly
than the number of men, end at the
end of a decade, at the present rate,
women will be in the majority at
institutions intended primarily for
men alone.
Dr. Robertson's New Office. *
Dr. W. E. Robertson, Hereford's
up-to-date and practical resident
dentist, has rented the north half
of Dr. R. M. Johnson's office build-
ing (opposite the Stringfejlow-Humc
Hardware Company's store) and is
having them fitted up for use as
dental parlors. When finished the
Hereford Dental Parlors will be as
handsome and thoroughly fitted and
equipped as any in the state. The
doctor is here to stay and has a
half-page adv in this issue of The
Brand calling attention to his busi-
ness. Whenever you need any
dental work done you should give
him a trial as you can get no better
work or satisfaction anywhere, and
besides you run no risks of having
your teeth worked on by fakirs who
are here today and somewhere else
tomorrow.
D. F- Johnson and daughter re-
turned Sunday from their trip to
Dallas and other points. Mr. John-
son, who represented this lodge at
the grand lodge meeting held at
Waco, says that a very profitable
meeting was held.
Dr. C. P. Estes was called last
week, Thursday evening, to the
Baker ranch, thirty miles north of
town, to render professional service*
to Frank Baker, who had the mis-
fortune to have the horse he was
riding throw him to the ground with
considerable force, as the result of
falling from stepping into a post
hole. Upon examination the doctor
found that Mr. Baker's collar bone
had been broken, and after the
fracture had been reduced and the
patient made as easy as posaible he
returned home. As soon as Mr.
Baker's condition will permit he will
be brought to Hereford.
