John H. Wise, one of the North
Draw's prosperous stockmen, was in
town Wedntsday.

Meeks, a boy. Both mother and
son are doing well.
The Hereford Lumber Co. has a
new adv. in this issue. If you are

J. W. Fewell was in from his
Castro county ranch this week, and
reports that the recent cold weather
has done no damage to stock in his
section.
J. D. Tucker, of the firm of J. E.
Tucker & Co., owners of the OYO
Hereford ranch near Dimmitt, came
in Saturday and paid this office an
appreciated visit, giving this office
a large order for stationery.
Allan G. Bell of Dimmitt is now
employed as clerk at the Hereford
National Bank. Mr. Bell formerly
held a similar position in the City
National Bank of Austin, and will
prove a valuable addition to the
systematic workings of our local
financial institution.

James Carter was in Tuesday from
the ranch.
Mart McCracken made an abbre-
viated trip to Amarillo Saturday.
J. A. Johnson, the grocer, re-
turned yestercay from a business
trip to Amarillo.
S. H. Morris, bookkeeper at
Smith, Walker & Co.'s store at this
place, made a business trip to Ama-
rillo on Wednesday, returning the
following day.
W. S. Files was in from his ranch,
situated nine miles northwest of
town, on Wednesday. He says his
stock were never in finer condition
to stand the winter.
Garrison Bros., who have opened
up a hardware and farming imple-
ment store in the new Hay block,
have an adv. in this issue which will
be of. interest to anyone needing any-
thing in their line.
J. N. Ivy, the well known North
Draw ranchman, was in town Wed-
day. Mr. Ivy recently increased
his land holdings by purchasing two
sections of land adjoining the four
sections he already owned.
P. W. Nudd, proprietor of the
Hereford restaurant, is aiming to
serve his patrons with a Christmas
dinner that will make one think of
"home." His service is second to
none on the plains. One can get
nearly all the delicacies of the sea-
son at any hour of the day, and at
reasonable prices.
M: s. R. 0. Phansteel and son,
Harry, were in town yesterday, buy-
ing Xmas goods.
E. C. and J. L. Carter came in
from their Endee. N. M., catt'e
ranch on Wednesday, and will spend
Christmas with their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. E. C. Carter.
Will Doherty, who recently bought
some ranch property about seven
miles south of town, came in Mon-
day from Gainesville, his former
home, with his household goods.
His family will follow in the near
future.
Royal Hubbell and family came
in Tuesday and will henceforth
make Hereford their home. Mr.
Hubbell has opened up a photograph
studio in the old Meeks gallery and
promises to give satisfactory work
in his line.
The Hereford Manufacturing Co.,
of which T. R. Reagan is manager,
has opened up a plumbing and tin-
ning shop in the Blankinship build-
ing, opposite the Humphrey House,
which was formerly occupied by the
Hereford restaurant, and are pre-
pared to build oil and water tanks
and do general repairing on short
notice. See their adv. elsewhere in
this issue. •

W. B. Beach was a visitor in Am-
arillo last Saturday.
Mrs. George Cloyd and Mrs.
Walter Sullivan of Castro county
were in town yesterday interviewing
Santa Claus.
W. T. Smith leaves today for a
four weeks' visit among friends and
relatives at his former home, Hunt-
ington, Tenn.
Emmett Cardwell wishes to call
your attention to his large stock of
Xmas fireworks, candies, fruits, etc.

Harden Russell, who is engaged
in the destruction of wolves in the
vicinity of the Escarbada division of
the XIT pastures, is in town this
week. He paid this office a pleas-
ant visit yesterday and ordered the
Reporter sent to his son, who is
the sheriff of Blanco county.
