one such friendly, visible face
on campus. Read-Walsh has
lately garnered the presti-
gious position of being the
second female battalion lead1
er of the Texan Battalion. The
last female battalion leader
graduated over 10 years ago.
Read-Walsh has also been
proving that female cadets
can perform on the same lev-
el as male cadets. Levis com-
mended Read-Walsh on her
excellent performance at the
summer Leader Development
and Assessment Course.
"[Read-Walsh] had the
best all-around camp and
leadership scores. Had more
'E's than anyone else...she
was the top graduate. from
Stephenville," Levis said. The
highest grade any cadet can
receive at LDAC is an JE' for
"exceeds/'
Another reason Levis
cites for the female enroll-
ment increase is that as wom-
en join ROTC, they bring their
friends with them.
"Mackenzie Duncan has
been a great recruiter/' Levis
said.
"I encourage anybody to
come out and try the ROTC,
They aren't asking you to go
to Iraq tomorrow. Its good
leadership training...you can
only benefit/' Duncan said.
"It teaches you to live to a
higher standard in and out of
uniform."

accustomed to Monday hat day and
pass me on campus are pretty amus-
ing to watch."
Fehlis credits her high score on
the MCAT to practice and attentive-
ness. "I took practice test after prac-
tice test to get comfortable with the
format, and I paid attention during
class so I was comfortable with the
material covered."
Upon telling her professors and
fellow biomedical science majors her
score, Fehlis said she has "gotten a lot
of good facial expressions."
Fehlis is a 20-year-old senior from
Round Rock, Texas, who's double
majoring in Spanish and biomedical
science,
"My goal is to be a bilingual pe-
diatrician," said Fehlis. "I'd like to be
able to communicate directly with all
of my patients and their families."
She's taken several trips to Spanish-
speaking countries with- The Study
Abroad and on medical mission
trips. She also translates for Hispanic
patients at Harris Methodist Erath
County Hospital.
Although Fehlis studied hard, she
was expecting a lower score than she
received. "I was mentally prepared
for anything from a 28 to a 34, 34 be-
ing extremely hopeful." Once Fehlis
checked her score online, "there was a
great deal of shock and enthusiasm/'
she said. "My mom had told me that
if I made a 34 she'd buy me dinner at
my choice of any restaurant in central
Texas. I called her and told her I de-
served more than dinner out."

ever say rock and roll!" The crowd's intensity
raised as they played songs from older albino.
The mosh pit spread, sucking in whoever was try-
ing to watch the show. Keith Buckley, the singer,
yelled, "I wanna see some (exploited) body surfiiig
on this song!" Bodies started to spring up every-
where. Limbs were flying as the fans toppled over
the tops of heads. BTTD's sound of metal, hardcorfe
and Southern rock made a tasty collaboration. •.
Finally, the headliner begins. Underoath, the
"screamo" band from Florida, starts to play TFfe
crowd gave an exciting yell. I expected that, as with
the previous bands, the crowd would go wild, Uh-
deroath are masters of their instruments. Their tal-
ent exceeded the bands before them. Ifs rare heair
ing a band only to find that their style cannot be
labeled. The only way to experience them is to go
to see them. , j
Every band was great. Every one of thefti
brought a performance that has left an impact ©fi
me. Advent definitely has potential. They had the
signs of a new band in the making. In a year or so,
they should be well-refined. I would buy the May-
lene and the Sons of Disaster CD; as well as Un-
deroath. These guys have a lot of, experience thgt
has helped to develop something original. I will
definitely see these guys again. , n
Every Time I Die sold me. A great band in-
corporates great music and an ability^ to make the
audience feel involved. They far exceeded my ex-
