Stephenville's local Chili's restaurant serves up hot food, .
cold drinks, and friendly, service to all who enter. t

Chili's restaurant may be a fran-
chise, but it is high scale as franchises
go. The atmosphere is great fof fami-
lies during the day and partiers at
night, and this is one of tlie few spots
in Stephenville that serves alcohol to
all those thirsty of-age students. The
pricing fits a student budget for a once-
in-a-while meal and waitresses tod
: waiters are also very friendly and at-
tentive. All said, Chili's in Stephenville
lives up to the franchise standards.
I visited Chili's with a cquple of
friends, and we were all Hungry. Our.
waitress was very helpful despite
dealing with a full house.' One friend
ordered one of the Chili's buggers, I or-:
dered the Southwestern Eggrolls, and
my other dinner companion ordered
the Molten Chocolate Cake. We had a
little time to chat but it was not long
before our food arrived. Having had
the Molten Chocolate Cake before, I fo-
cused on my dinner of eggrolls. What
the menu labels as a starter suited me
fine.as a meal.
According to the Chili's website
the Southwestern Eggrolls incljude
smoked chicken,' black beans^ c|>rn,
jalapeno jack cheese, red peppers pnd
spinach inside a crispy flour tortilla.
Considering recent events I may have
been wary of the spinach but I've had
"time to decide that whatever spinach
was in my meal was quite safe. The
tortilla seemed to. have been -grilled
before preparation instead of the usu-
al deep fry method, and that made all
the difference to keeping the juices in
these delicious and 1 lar^e portioned
entree morsels. . , 1 .
My company for the , meal" was
kind enough to provide goo$ conver-'
• sation during our time at Chili's bi^t &s
I" looked around the restaurant L no-
ticed something. Everyone was siijiJ-
ing or laughing. People in the dining,
area, at the bar, even the staff seem'ed
happy. Chili's knows how to. make. the
atmosphere entertaining; a place to^be.
There is always a party feel at Chili's,
and everyone.kaows, students ri&ed'to
blow off steam now and then. Chain oi
no, Chili's is one of the few venues in
Stephenville able to handle both fam-
ily needs and party atmosphere undei
one roof.
Web site allows student feedback
By MANDI ROBERTS
Staff Writer J
Again the internet has connected us;
This time it has calculated and combined
the collective voice of students across the
• a
United States to reveal, from students'
perspective, which professors are easiest to
learn from.
The public web site, www.rate-
myprofessor.com, was designed to allow
students to rank the overall quality, ease of
class, helpfulness, and clarity of teaching by
professors whose classes they have tAken.
Other students then benefit by looking at
the opinions and rankings to help decide if
a certain teacher's style would satisfy their
learning needs in upcoming classes;
■ The web site attests that "the purpose
of the site is to be a resource for students,"
where they can "find out what others think
of an instructor."
"When you have the option of
choosing a teacher, wouldn't you really
like some information? It also gives you,
the user?: a place to voice your opinion and
a place to make a difference in your educa-
tion," the web site stated.'
The success rate of the site, shown
in participation, confirms that students find
the idea appealing and useful; Since'being
established, over six million students- from
ovdr six thousand colleges have rated the
teaching and grading styles of 770^000+
professors. . "
. The site averages all'rankings and
then divides professors into 'good quality;'
'average quality''and 'poor quality' catego-
ries. Over 65% of overall ratings are posi-
tive.
Tarleton, school ID 994 on the site,
has ranked many of its instructors favorably.
English professor Sam Dodson, Computer
Science professor Art Dearing, and Science
t-
■ professor Stephen McReynolds are just a
few who had high average ratings inserting
them into the 'good quality' grouping. Oth-
ers did not fare so well,
Dodson said that although he knows
about the web site, he has never actually
seen it. \
"I have never looked at it, but I've
been told about it by students," Dodson said;

ranked according to a student
feedback web site.
