New program helps
Central Texas schools
A new program to help
serve the needs of schools
in the Central Texas area
has been instituted at TSU.
Called the Cross Timbers
School Development Coun-
cil (CTSDC), the organiza-
tion serves as a lomm for
school administrators to
meet and share ideas and
services.
The CTSDC is built on the
premise that an open
dialogue between school
districts is essential to help
solve the complex pro-
blems that today's school
administrators face. The
council promotes regular
meetings of administrators
to discuss common pro-
blem solutions and explore
the merits of shared
services.

The CTSDC also utilizes
the technical resources
available at Tarleton to

districts. The organization
is headquartered on the
Tarleton campus and is
directed by Dr. Jim Boyd,
head of the TSU Depart-
ment of Education and
Psychology. Tarleton will
serve as host for the spring
conference, publishes a
council newsletter and pro-
vides technical assistance
to administrators and
school board members.
The council is governed
by a board of directors in-
cluding R.P. Campbell,
Region XI, Education Ser-
vice Center, Fort Worth;
Bob Elder, Brock; Ben
Gilbert, Stepbeuville; Cecil
Harper, Cleburne; Richard
Liardon, Clifton; James
Wann, Granbury; and Dr.
Boyd.
Membership in the
organization is open to all
school districts. Additional
information may be obtain-
ed by calling 817-968-9097 at
Tarleton.
