Bargaining seminpr turnout good
Representatives from 22 high
■schools, colleges and universities
attended the Collective Bargaining
Seminar held on the Tarleton
State University campus last
weekend.
Speakers included Dr. David
.Borland, Dr. Elvis Stephen and
Dir. Henry Sisk, all of North Texas
State University, who discussed
"What is this thing, Collective
Bargaining?" Also, Jim Stewart,
executive director of Texas Public
Employees Association; Bob
Wallace, president, Fort Worth
Classroom Teachers Association;
Dr. Louis Bolieu, Texas
Association of College Teachers
executive from Tarleton; and
Charles Ramsey, president of
Texas Public Employees
Association who explained and
discussed the alternatives to
collective bargaining.
Speaking at the final session on
"The National Collective
Bargaining Agents" were Perry
Robinson, American Association
of University Professors; John
Stevens, American Federation of
Teachers; and Tom Llewellyn,
National Education Association.
Public schools represented at
the seminar were Hico, Blanket
and Copperas Cove.
Junior ""College and community
college representatives attended
from McLennan, Ranger,-Grayson
County, Alvin, Tarrant County
South, Tarrant County Northeast,
El Centra and Cisco. '
Colleges and universities
represented were North Texas
State, East Texas State, Angelo
State, Midwestern, Texas'Eastern,
Sam Houston State, Lamar, Texas
A&I, West Texas State, Texas
Southern, and Tarleton. '
No recommendations were
adopted at the se'mihar since it
was scheduled for informational
purposes only. The seminar was
sponsored by .the Tarleton chapter
of TACT and had been previously
authorized as a pilot project by
the state executive committee of
TACT.
Local arrangements were
handled by Dr. Louis Bolieu, Dr.
Oscar A. Grant, Dr. Beverly
Cochran, Dr. Linda Neal,')Dr. Sue
McGinity, Travis Livingston, Mrs.
Ola Fay Bolieu, Russell Long and
Dr. Tom Pilkington.

intramural Rodeo over
Students picked up annuals in the Student Center Friday.
Yearbooks for 197,6 are now being issued in the Office
of Development and Information, Room 305, of Davis
Hall. The office is open from 8 a.m. until noon and 1
until 5 p.m. daily Monday through Friday. Jif (J
Yearbooks for 1975 are also available for students who
have not picked them up. Students must present ID cards
to obtain the yearbooks.

A good crowd came' oUt tq. see
the livestock defeat the cowboys
in the first night of the Tarleton
State intramural rodeo.
Carl Chumney did an excellent
job of annnouncing the events and
entertaining the large crowd.
■ In bareback riding .Chuck
Fraser came out on top with 62
points. Greg Taylor with 56 and
Phil Williams with 55 were the
only others of the 14 contestants
who completed their rides. Ray
Wilshire and Gary Eberhart had'
outstanding rides, but got no time
because they were in the air when
. the buzzer sounded.
Dan Webb had the quickest
time in calf roping with time of
9.6 seconds. Roy Shackleford was
second with a time of 11.7
seconds.
Jo Nell Epperson was the only
girl to capture her calf in the
breakaway roping.
In saddle bronc riding the
horses were the winners. Iky
Akers had the distinction of being
the only one to outlast the
buzzer. He stayed in the saddle
but got no time because of
spurring violation.
Joe'Williams took, first at steer
wrestling with a time of 5.05 I,
seconds. Leonard Fluitt was very '
close with a 5.19 second timing.,
Out, of eight teams Cecil
Maynes and Glenn Turner was the
only team to get their calf in the
team roping event. ,
The barrel racing event, was the
closest contested event of the
..night. There was oniy a 2.59
second difference.:w between the
winnner ai;d eighth place finisher.
Jan Williamson was low with
J 8.88 seconds, with Lynn Hinyub
only .04. of a . second behind at
18.92. Janice Overstreet was third
Alpha Chi
The Tarleton Chapter of Alpha
Chi met Monday evening, Oct. 4,
with all' fall initiates. In this
general mpeting officers and
sponsors were introduced by club
president Melba Woolsey Riggs,
senior from Granbury. A brief
summation of the club's ideals
and activities was given by Dr.
Robert Fain and Eugene
Atkinson.
Initiation of new members will
at 19.02 seconds.
The bull riding event was last
and most eventful. The. bulls
du'mped aU fifteen contestants,
' but they gave the crowd a lot of
thrills'. Clowns Kris Brown and
Danny Vestal did an outstanding
job of keeping the bulls off the
contestants. There are probably
a lot of bruises and sore
muscles, but tfiere was no
apparent, serious injury.

outstanding stock. In 61 events
involving' livestock against
cowboy, livestock won in all but

members' dues is Thursday,
Oct. 14.,Students who have been
^elected to join and have been
notified are asked to contact Mrs.
Wilma Davis, secretary to Dr.
Rpbert! Fain, in the Science
Building'if they were unable to
attend the meeting last Monday.
