Constitution Amendments To Be ^Yoted on Today
The following amendments to
the Student Senate Constitution
were voted on and approved by
the Stiidpit Senate at their
Monday 'evening meeting, and will
be voted on today by the student
body.
Amendment I: "To change
Article II, Section 3, Part A to
read,as follows: 'All
upperclassmen shall have a 2.0
average overall. (Senators)' "
Amendment II: "To' change
Article III to- read as follows:'
' "He" refers to male or female
throughout this constitution/ " ,
Amendment III: "To' change
Article III, Section 1, Part A to
read as follows: 'He shall have a
2.25,at the end of the semester
previous to his election and shall
maintain a 2.25 grade point ratio
and be a senior or junior, or a-
graduate student during his tenure
of office. (President)' " , . i ;
Amendment IV: "To change
Article III, Section 1, Part B to
read as follows: .'He shall have a
2.25 .at the end_ of the fall
semester previousrto his election
and shall maintain a 2.25 grade
point ratio and be a junior or •
senior during his tenure of office.
(Vice President)' "
Amendment V: "To delete
from Article III, Section 1, Part B,
(2): 'Vice president to serve as
chairman of the Executive
. Committee.' "
. Amendment VI: "To, change
Article III, Section 1, Part 3„ to
read as follows: 'He shall be a
sophomore, junior, senior or
graduate,, student during his tenure
of office. (Secretary)' "
Amendment VII: "To change
Article III, Section l, .Part D to
read as follow?: 'He shall be
classified a '.sophomore, junior,
senior,, or graduate student.
(Treasurer)'" .
Amendment " VIII:' "To change
Article III, Section 1, Part E to
read as follows: 'He shall be
classified' a sophomore, junior,
senior, or graduate student'.
(Parliamentarian)'." ' '
Amendment, IX: "To delete
Article III, Sectic/n 1, Parts^G, H,
I: 'Sgt-at-Arms, Chaniberkeeper,
Truancy'Officer.'"
Amendment X: "Article III,
Section 2, Part B, (6): 'To show a
monthly Senate financial
report.' ";
The Senate also discussed three
proposed by-law changes, one of
which was the deletion of class
favorite election! One senator
who favored, the deletion said,
"This is Tarleton State University,
not'Tarleton High School."
Another senator who'opposed the -
deletion thought that "there
wouldn't be anything in the
personality section of the
Grassburr if the favorite elections
were done away with." The
Senate-voted to continue with the
favorite elections.
The Senate also voted to
cjiange Ali-Tarjeton Man and
Woman to Mr. and Miss TS(J, and
the $60 limit for campaign
expenditures at all TSU elections
was increased to $100.
The adoption of a by-law
requires a two-thirds majority of
the vote of the entire Senate
membership and-is not subject to
the vote of the student body.
