Balloting In Progress For
ISC Student Senate Leaders
Elections for student body
president and vice-president are
presently being conducted in the
Student Center. Tarleton stu-
dents presenting their l.D. cards
may vote until 4 p.m. today.
If a run off election is nec-
essary, it will be held Thursday,
April 27. This will only be held
if a majority is not received by
one candidate on the first bal-
lot.
Five candidates have an-
nounced for this year's contest,
two for president and three for
the vice-president slot.
Eddie Gamer, a junior chem-
istry major from Stephenville,
and Ronnie Sullins, an agricul-
ture mgjor from Oglesby are vy-
ing for the top executive posi-
tion. Bruce Bush, a senior bi-
ology major from San Saba; Ross
Gillum, a junior agriculture edu-
cation major from Snyder; and
Pat McRoberts, a junior biology
major from Hamilton are the
candidates for vice-president.
The candidates were each pre-
sented a questionnaire made out
by the J-TAC and asked to an-
swer the questions in regard to
their campaign. Printed below
are the answers given by the five
candidates.
How do you feel about co-
educational dorms on a college
campus?
GARNER: I personally think
co-ed dorms are great. They
provide an atmosphere of learn-
ing about each other and sharing
with people more so than in the
conventional dormitory system.
It is just another new idea, and
new ideas are always slow in
getting accepted in our society.
If students really want them,
then they should push for them,

Jazz Ensemble Concert
Set For Thursday Night
The Tarleton State College
Jazz Ensemble directed by Den-
nis Guillaume will present a con-
cert at 8 p.m. Thursday, April
27, in the Main Auditorium.
There will be no admission
charge.
The concert will feature the
three arrangements that the TSC
Jazz Ensemble played at the es-
cond annual Southwestern Col-
Jege Jazz Festival at Austin on
Saturday, April 22. The remain-
der of the program will be a
variety of lab band arrangements
styled from the various band
leaders.
The TSC Jazz Ensemble com-
peted with eight other collegiate
jazz ensembles at Austin. Guill-
aume stated that although Tar-
leton did not place in the com-
petition, he was extremely pleas-
ed with the performance of the
group and noted that the Tarle-
ton band was complimented
highly,
Texas Southern University
Combo won first place in the
penses paid to Washington, D.C.,
for another three-day college
festival. The contest will be a
national event in cooperation
competition, the only place a-
warded, and will have their ex-
national event in cooperation
with the National Association of
Jazz Educators. The festival
was sponsored by the Longhorn
Jazz Festival.

Dr. Jim Pearson will be guest
speaker at commencement exer-
cises Sunday, May 14 at Tarleton
as some 152 students receive
their diplomas in Wisdom Gym.
Dr. Pearson is associate vice-pres-
ident for academic affairs and
professor of history and educa-
tion at North Texas State Univer-
sity. He earned a B.A. and M.A.
from North Texas State Univer-
sity and a doctorate from the
University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Pearson has served as
Book Review Editor of the
Southwestern Historical Quarter-
ly and chairman of the Texas
History Advisory Committee.
One of his books won an Alpha
Sigma Phi award. He was pre-
sented a Teaching Excellence
Award by the University of
Texas Student Assembly and an
Honor Award from the council
of Chief State School Officers.
He is also on the Advisory Board
of Social Science Quarterly and
Social Science Education.

Little Colonel
To Be Presented
At Military Ball
The ROTC Military Ball will
be held from.8 p.m. to mid-
night Saturday, April 29, in the
Cave. The 1972 Little Colonel
and her court will be presented
in a special ceremony with the
Wain\#rigfit Saber Guard.
Playing at the dance will be
"Pursuit", a Chicago-style rock
group with accent on popular
styles. The affair will be semi-
formal. There will be no admis-
sion, charge.
