Major Don Hancock, professor
and head of the Tarleton S t a t e.
College military science depart-
ment, was promoted to the rank
of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S.
Army on Jan. 23.
Hancock has been with the Tar-
leton ROTC program ;s i nc e
September, $67.. He is a graduate
of Georgia Military Academy, and
received his Army commission
through the Reserve Officers
Training Corps.
Hancock entered the Army in
January, 1955. He has served at
• Ft* Benning, Ga".; Germany; Ft.
Hood, Texas; Korea;'Ft. Bliss,
Texas; Ft. Sill, Okla.; Ft. Mc-
Lellan, Ala.; Sixth U.S. Army
Headquarters in San Francisco;
and prior to assuming, his duties
at Tarleton, he served with U.S.
forces in Vietnam.
Hancock has won numerous
awards and honors during his
Army career, including the Legion
of Merit, the Air Medal, Army
Commendation Medal, American
Defense Medal with one Oak Leaf
Cluster, Vietnamese Campaign
Medal with two Bronze Stars,
the Vietnamese Service Medal,
Meritorious Unit Commendation
Award, and the Parachute Wing.
