Stresses Faith,
Truth, Integrity
By BETH RUSSELL
Dr. Kenneth Pope, speaker dur-
ing' Religious Emphasis Week,
gave many important points for
the students of Tarleton to think
about in his lectures this past
week.
In his iirst assembly program
Dr. Pope explained that first a
Christian's decision should be bas-
ed on realistic love.
Love Is "Realistic
"There's u big difference between
sentimental love and, realistic love.
Realistic love is not blind—it gets
hold of the facts and will hot make
you mad."
As his second point Dr. Pope,
who is pastor of the First Method-
ist Church in Houston, emphasized
the saeredness of personality."
Moving 011 to his third thought
the Houston minister explained
that goodness is the foundation of
the universe. "The basis of all the
world is truth, life, honesty, and
integrity."

36TH YEAR
STEPHEN VILLE, TEXAS, TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 1956
NO. 18
We're Counting On You!
The games Saturday night put a new light
on the popular question, "Who's going to be
Conference champs?" Arlington defeated San
Angelo to climb to Number 1 rating in the
contests for the title. Tarleton lost to
Schreiner, San Angelo to Tarleton.
It's not too. late to .pull the season out of.
the fire.
By defeating the Arlington Rebels tonight,
tile Plowboys can tie the conference up into a
four-way tie between Arlington, Schreiner, San
Angelo and Tarleton.
If Tarleton loses, the Arlington Blue and
White will walk off our court the undisputed
Pioneer champions, '
Tarleton Plowboys, understandably, don't
want this to happen. The Plowboys will play
a game that their whole heart and soul will be
in because of the desire to share the title and
keep the four-decade old rival school from
gaining another victory over us.
The Plowboys can play wihtout the support
of the students, faculty, and Tarleton boosters,
but they can play a much better, more inspired
gam£ if they know the stands are filled with
people who want to see Tarleton.defeat Arling-
ton.
We have two choices—we cah fjll the gym-
nasium, all 1,001 seats, or we can ignore the
fact that the 1956 Plowboys are playing the
game of the season and need each and every*
one of us,
Arlington won't take defeat easil.vy they'll
fight to (hold their No. 1 rating. Arlington de-,
feated Tarleton by a slight 59-56 margin when
We played them on their home court.
Tonight we have them on our home court,
and the Plowboys will be playing to share in
the title.
A pretty important game? You bet your life.
It's important that each and every one of
us be there.
Will we, or won't we' back the Plowboys?
Which will it be?
"I'll Be There." Wil you? ? —P. M.
