Amid the turbulence, the excite-
ment, and the anticipation of on
coming events, the minds of the hu-
n}3n-.raee are very lib:-ly to forget
tlie more serious things of life. This
is a hereditary, habit of humanity,
that has been in existence since, the
beginning of time.
Next Thursday will be a long an
ticipated day, for the Tarleton stu-
dent body. Rut don't, forget. the
significance of. the day, amid the
excitement. Remember -that on this
day, three hundred and , five years
ago, the Pilgrims of Massachusetts
declared that this day should hence-
forth be one of- Thanksgiving. It
carries a far greater significance
than a football day. It signifance
was known long before football was.
Then, in all the revelry, let the real
purpose of the day have the upper
place in your mind, for without the
Supreme, our very existence would
have - been impossible.

The most fashionable affair of the
ason occurred last Wednesday
night, November 18, in the form of
a "Coed" dance. The butterflies of
fashion < flitted in the arms of the
"Shieks" and "jellies." Say boys,
we surely had good Looking escorts!
They brought us candy, blomers,
chewing gum, and everything. The fa-
mous Pettus-Childr^ss Players fur-
nished the music • for the occasion.
The grand march was led by Mr.
Melba Sue Bledsoe of Haskell hon-
oring Miss Inez Gutiii. Punch was
served. throughout the evening by
Misses Mabel Mote and- Hesta
Brown. Every step, old and new,
was illustrated and accomplished by
every dancer on the floor; also,
some steps never seen, and likely
wilT never be seeii again, appeared.*
It was with reluctance that we lef.
the floor at ten, but we are looking
forward to a similar affair before
the holidays. Three cheers to Mrs.
Moody for promoting, and to Dean
Davis for permitting, this affair.

Dear Mr. Davis: ■ .| :■ !
I have been intending to write
you for some tiiiie. When 1 would
think about writing you I would
always be busy at something ebe.
So far everything has been hard
for me. I dropped Chemistry ia-.t
M'onday because it. was isking so
much of my time. I. could- hw
passed it and my other work also
but I could not make unv grao--
points in doing so, therefore I
thought it Would be best to take
Chemistry over in the summer;
I read the J-Tac every week. I am
always interested to know in what
way the school is progressing. The
J-Tac is just like a home town pap-
er to me. I guess it is because I
stayed in Tarleton so long that it
seemed like home.
I found the recommendation that
you sent me very helpful in
securing work here. L am - now
working in the Mess hall. The boy
working with me is from N. T. A.
C, He i'S as much a friend of mine
now as he was an. enemy last year.
The Tarleton and. Grubbs boys
flock together here like brothers.
How is my little^, brother getjing
along there? I should say younger
brother, I guess. He must be study-
ing hard as I have only heard from
him once since school started.
As it is nearly class time and I
will have to bring this letter to a
close. We are all keeping up with
Tarleton down - here and hoping
for a State Championship in foot-
ball here and there,.
Sincerely yours,

Kempy" To Open Public Speaking

First Offering Will Make Big Hit
With Audience At Performance
Miss Lillard in her. presentation
of "Kempy" . by the Public Speak-
ing and Expression Department of
John Tarleton College on Thursday,
December 3, at 7:30-p. m. in the
College Auditorium will score an-
other great success, which will mark
her as a producer of amatuer plays,
decidedly above the average.
No one can know what J. C. Nu-
gent and his son, Elliott Nugent,
Siad in mind when they wrote
"Kempy," but if they intended to
provide a means for the foibles of
human nature, and a riot-promotion
of Jaughter, of enthusiasm for an
understanding of the commonplaces
of life, they succeeded completely.
'"Kempy" is in a class by itself
as a Simon-Pure.American' Comedy,
and in the capable hands of the
Tarleton Players its inherent en-
thusiasms will hold the audience
Trom start to finish.
"Kempy" is a delightfully, deft,
and durable piece of dramaturology

the Tarleton-Cub game Sam Fitz.-
