A letter written to Jack Ross, Parole and Probation Compact Administrator, Austin, Texas from G. R. Klopfenstein, Chief (by R. N. McMichael, Placement Supervisor), Bureau of Probation and Parole, Columbus 15, Ohio, dated November 8, 1954. McMichael advises Ross of the enclosed, recent photograph, criminal record and fingerprints of Subject 95040 OP, recently approved for placement in Abilene,Texas. The enclosures include an Ohio State Penitentiary Institutional Processing Photograph of Inmate No. 95040, dated August 23, 1954; an Ohio Penitentiary, Columbus Ohio Inmate No. 95040. This collection was assembled by Thomas Norwood Carswell (1887-1978) and contains correspondence throughout his life. His files hold letters signed by most of the major political leaders of Texas during the 1940s through the 1960s, as well as letters signed by Presidents Harry S Truman, Richard M. Nixon, Senator Lyndon B. Johnson, and George Washington Carver. It also contains a scrapbook of his time at Simmons College.
