Dr. Thomas B. Warren is the
professor of Religion and Chris-
tian Apologetics at the Harding
Graduate School of Religion in
Memphis, Tennessee. He re-
ceived the Doctorate Degree
from Vanderbilt.
Mission Studies Program of
Abilene Christian University.
Coker continues to serve on the
Board of Directors and as an
advisor of Baxter. Goodwin,
commenting on Coker’s resig-
nation, said: “We are grateful
to Dan for his long and continu-
ing services to the school. We
wish him every success in his
new endeavor. Dan and his
wife Elise are sorely missed in
Mexico City. However, we are
fortunate in that we will count
on his continuing interest and
assistance in making this pro-
Proposition:
“I Know that God Does Exist”
Affirmative: Dr. Thomas B.
Warren
..Negative: Dr. A.G.N. Flew
September 22-23
Conservative Christian Church.
Ten years ago I became ac-
quainted with brother Casas
and after a series of studies he
severed his connection with the
Christian Church and since that
time has proven himself to be
an able and effective preacher
of the Gospel in the Churches
Know That God Does Not
Exist.” However, speech after
speech passed during those two
nights without Dr. Flew even
attempting to do so! After
much prodding by Dr. Warren
for him to recognize his duty in
the affirmative role, Dr. Flew
hinted at arguments in connec-
tion with evil in the world and
eternal punishment. Dr. Warren
then proceeded to make Dr.
Flew’s arguments for him and
then to reply in such a way as
to show the falsity of the
argument. During all this time,
Dr. Warren was busy present-
ing negative material to under-
mine the atheistic affirmative
position. Dr. Flew was unable
to reply in any adequate way.
Thus the first two nights closed
with most (if not all) disap-
pointed in the way Dr. Flew
responded to his responsibility
to prove “God does not Exist.”
The second two nights found
Dr. Warren in the affirmative
position. It was therefore his
responsibility to present sound
arguments, the conclusion of
which is “I Know that God
Does Exist.” This he proceeded
to do in his first speech and, if
my memory serves me correct-
ly, in every speech thereafter.

An Overwhelming Victory
by Gary Ealy
DENTON, Tx.:— After four-
teen months of labor on the
part of the Bible Chairs in
Denton directed by the Univer-
sity Church of Christ and by
Dr. Thomas B. Warren, we
were able to see the fruit of
our labors in a total victory for
truth during the days of Sep-
tember 20-23, 1976. With an
average attendance of over
5,000 each evening, men and
women from all over the Unit-
ed States were able to witness
the atheistic doctrine be totally
devastated. Dr. Warren’s prep-
aration was thorough having
about 400 charts prepared for
possible use during the debate.
It was a great inspiration to be
able to see that type of dedica-
tion in defense of the truth.
Each day during the debate
and for three days prior to the
debate, just about every mo-
ment was spent in preparation
for the next night’s defense.
The preparation made was evi-
denced by all.
The first two nights of the
debate, Dr. Anthony Flew, one
who is at least in the top five
°f his field holding to the
atheistic position, was to pre-
end sound arguments, the con-
clusion of which was to be “I

Dr. Warren made his affirma-
tive arguments based upon
many admissions that Dr. Flew
had given during his two nights
in the affirmative. He proved
that God existed by proving
that evolution, the only other
alternative to man’s existence
on earth was false. Basic to
this was Flew’s admission that
the first human being was not
born of non-human parents and
neither did it come into exist-
ence by transformation from
some other non-human form of
life. Since these two comprise
the only possible ways that
evolution could have happened
then it was obvious that evolu-
tion was (is) false.
He furthermore appealed to
the human body as proof of the
existence of God. Using a form
of the argument to design, Dr.
Warren pointed out with num-
. erous examples of the human
body the evidence which de-
manded that the body was
designed by God. To these
arguments Dr. Flew gave nQ
response.
Dr. Warren’s most devastat-
ing argument was that of
moral value. Since Dr. Flew
has answered a question sub-
