Congratulations Bernie Dow
Bernard O. Dow has been elected to the
prestigious Law Institute, which was
founded in 1923 to improve American law
and its administration. Its incorporators
included Chief Justice and
former President William
Howard Taft and future
Chief Justice Charles Evans
Hughes. Judges Benjamin N.
Cardozo and Learned Hand
were among its early leaders.
Its by-laws authorize an
elected membership of 3,000
from the approximately
985,000 American lawyers
and law professors from all
areas of the United States, as
well as some foreign
countries.
Dow received his B.A. degree with
honors, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University
of Texas and his law degree from the
University of Texas School of Law. He
received the first annual award for Texas
Lawyer Professionalism presented in 1994
by the College of the State Bar of Texas and
is listed in the Best Lawyers in America
Directory.
Dow has previously served as a member
of the State Bar of Texas Council of Real
