city will furnish the forms the Texas
Bitulithic company will make a con-
crete drinking fountain to be placed
at North First street and Tijeras ave-
nue. The council decided to placet an
Iron or wood trough there at the last
meeting but the paving company's offer
makes it possible to put a substantial
and more decorative fountain there.
Mayor Sellers said the city would fur-
nish the forms. If this fountain is sat-
isfactory to the councilmen the mayor
plans to have similar fountains placed
at several other corners.
The property owners of the neigh-
borhood of First and Tijeras avenue
agreed to pay for the water if the dty
would locate the fountain there.

Juarez awoke from its lethargic state
Friday morning when strains of mili-

keepers ran from their stores to gaze
in wonder at the band ot the 15th bat-

stopped in front of CoL Juan N. Vas-

ception was tendered 10 Gen. Luis A.

This was the aftermath of an un-

with bombs were arrested and taken
to jail. It was said that they had one

MILES OF JUAREZ
Twelve CteveteiMl Ohio Men Come
From TerrsJMHt on Handenrs Say
Villa's Men Are A ear;
Rafckea bj Then.
Rebels were seen IS miles below
Juarez by 12 construction men of
Cleveland. Ohio who arrived in Juarez
on a pair of handcars Wednesday
night from Terraxas ChiiL where they
have been doing some steel work on
the Rio Tinto smelters. The rebels
were met between Terrazas and Tierra
Blanca 19 miles south of the present
seat of war The men made the hand
car trip in two days pumping the cars
along over the rails when there were
rails and lifting them over the burned
places in the railroad. They say that
they were stopped at every station be-
tween Terrazas and Tierra Blanca and
four times between stations. The reb-
els were of Villa's band they told the
12 Americans but they did not have
any authoritative dates for the start-
ing of the big battle of Juarez.
From these Americans the rebels
took $1000 gold W. H. Frantz one of
the party savs. The rebels did not
harm or threaten the Americans who
were leaving Mexico after going there
from Cleveland for a construction
company to build a smokestack 140
feet high and to do a few other odd
jobs around the works of the Rio Tinto
people.
As if the touch of all their spare
change was not enough of a contribu-
tion to the cause the federals arrested
the Americans when they arrived In
Juarez on their hand cars Wednesday
evening and they spent the night in
the Juarez jail. They were released
after they had given a satisfactory ex-
planation of their presence in the rev-
olutionary country. The men say that
the rebels at Tierra Blanca told them
they had been watcning the federals
entrenching and fortifying the countrv
around Juarez and had sent a courier
to Villa telling him that the taking of
the old town would be no snap.
Among the men who made the trip
up from Terrazas were: W. H. Frantz.
Kdward Clam. Edward Drlscoll John
Crumm W. H. McNama B. O. O'Neil
and six others whose names were not
known to the foreman of the construc-
tion crew.

visit with his family on the coast he
