Bush's clean air parkage has
been widely viewed as the first
test of whether his administra
tion plans V> art derisively on
environmental issues
The president promised in
his campaign last year and
repeatedly since taking office
that he will move to tighten the
federal clean air laws, espe
cially by taking action to curb
arid rain
The final package was
approved by Bush over the
weekend at Camp bavld.

★FLEAS —
(Continued from Page 1)
conditions had provided good
reproductive conditions for
fleas and ticks. Ticks and fleas
just require a little moisture
and high humidity and warmth,
Wilson said.
Wilson said people should
monitor pets for heavy flea
infestation and pay attention to
the color of their pets’ gurns. If a
pet is suffering from flea
induced anemia, its gums will
appear pale.
Wilson added that if a person
is concerned about his pet he
should contact his vet, who can »
determine if the pet is anemic
by a simple blood test. 4
“My advice on flea control is ,
to consult your vet or a licensed
pest control operator." Wilson
said that controlling fleas on a
pet was not enough, that fleas
needed to be controlled in the
pet’s environment For every
one flea found on a pet, there's
100 in the environment,” Wil
son said.
“Flea controll is not just a
matter of not letting them itch,
it could easily be life saving."
