The Senior Department of the
Methodist Church had a hambur-
ger supper Tuesday- night in the
church basement. There were
many to enjoy- the fun. Mary
Lassiter led the songs and Rev.
Grosdidier led the games. Ham-
burgers, cold drinks and potato
chips were served by Mrs. Har-
old Geese.
Officers had been elected Sun-

of Mr. and Mrs. Walter M. Pettit,
Rt. 2, Bogata, recently joined the
Seventh Army’a 27th Anti-Air-
craft Artillery Battalion in Ger-
many.
Combat units of Seventh Army
form a major part of the strong
cordon of American defense forc-
es stretching across the U. S.
Zone of Germany. Pettit, a radar
operator in Company C, entered
the Army last March and com-
pleted basic training at Fort
Bliss, Texas.
We are happy that Fred Fisher,
one of our Mosely boys, has be-
come*county school superintend-
ent. Haskell Peek resigned this
position, having accepted a place
as math teacher in the Mt. Pleas-
ant school system. Mr. Fisher
will finish the term, beginning
Oct. 1.
A pack of wolves were heard
this morning at 1:30 a. m. and at
5:00 a. m. From the sound, there
must have been a goodly num-
ber.

of San Diego, Cailf., arrived
Friday morning at her mother’s
home, Mrs. Edna Mae Betterton
at Paris. She drove their car
through with Mr. and Mrs. Billie
Holbert. Her husband, William
Cooper, USN, escorted the body
of Dayton Joe Williams here for
burial. The community express-
es deepest sympathy for the grief
stricken family. Dayton was
killed Friday, Sept. 24, about 123
miles from San Diego, Calif., in
a three car accident.
Mr. and Mrs. Dean Deshazo of
Dallas, were here wth his uncle,
J. B. Williams and family for
several days this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Williams of
Houston, are visiting his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Williams.

daughter of Hooks, were with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edd Moore
and her brother, Clifford Pynes

A large crowd enjoyed the box
supper Friday night 'st the schppl
house. The boxes sold well. Some-
thing over $100.00 was received,
which will be used for equip-
ment for the school grounds.
Gaylord Cook of Amarillo, was
j visiting in Cunningham from Sat-
urday until Tuesday. He visited
his uncle, Claude Kennedy and
family and other relatives.

What a wonderful rain we had
last week! Now pastures, mea-
dows and lawns look like spring-
time. New pools have’ the first
water since being dug. Cotton is
green and growing. A pity it is
too late to grow a crop. Garden
seeds in the ground for weeks,
are up now.
Miss Maldia Blow was in Paris
on business Monday.
