Obituary
Mattie Alberta Johnson was the first child born to Alonzo and
Almeta Alberta (Lewis) Billups on August 13, 1937, in Beeville,
Texas.
While very young, the family moved to San Antonio, Texas. She
graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in 1954 then
attended St. Phillip's College.
Mattie worked in the health care field for 50 years.
Mattie married William Johnson Sr. in 1957 and to this union
four children were born: William Jr., Katherine, Delores and
Glenn.
Mattie accepted Christ at an early age. She later joined Mount
Sinai Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Rufus Wilson.
Where she served as an usher for many years.
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her
grandson Lucas Morgan.
Mattie leaves to cherish in her memory four children: William
Johnson Jr.(Edtrina), Katherine Collins (Willie), Delores
Williams(Darnell), Glenn Johnson(Patricia). Ten grandchildren:
William Ill, KaKeisha, Anthony, Cerica, Glenn, Marcus, Alonzo,
Edwina, Shanice and Isaiah. Two sisters: Nathelia Jones, Dallas,
TX, and Dorothy Evans, Racine, WI. Three great
grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and a host
of nieces, nephews and cousins. Last surviving
