Emma, you need not have any fear of interesting me for any thing you write will interest me. I can hardly wait for the letters to come, I am so anxious to see them. If I could only see you, I could tell you more in a few moments than I could write in a week.

I called on some young ladies Sunday, but I was not well and they were not either, so I did not enjoy myself scarcely any.

Thank you Emma for your kind wishes in regard to my studies. This leaves me only tolerably well. I have no strength scarcely, and I don't know when I will get well.

I shall wait impatiently for your answer to this.

Your "Dearest" friend,
Johnie
