I will know how this arrangement pleases you. I'm confident there's a letter in the Office when I hear from there. I am almost tempted to go up there my self. I suppose brother Fletcher and I will go to the Grove and spend the night Saturday night. I don't want to go much, but will have to go to please the folks.

Dear Johnie,

Not in answer to your letter (for I haven't received it yet) but by the request of the family, I will write a short letter to you to give you a few facts in reference to the secret that has been betrayed since you left. Yes, the most of the neighbors know even to the very day. Of course, Lizzie hasn't told it "but she has been questioned so very close that she could hardly keep from telling a bare face story."
