Mr. J. C. Brewer
My dear old friend,

Tonight, while the boys have gone "sparking," and I have the privilege of using their room, I deem it a favorable of opportunity of answering your very welcome missive, which found its way here only a short time ago. Yes, all of the young folks of this neighborhood have gone to church but me, and I thought I would be spending the time more pleasantly if I stayed at home and conversed a little with you. I was disappointed in not getting your letter sooner than I did, but the mails are so irregular I lay all the blame to them. Johnie, I did not know
