Believe it or not, an underground Women's Liberation1
movement is active on the Howard Payne campus. But
keep it quiet.
What other conclusion can the average, up-to-date stu-
dent draw when the Western Days sheriff, traditionally
one of the more burly young men students, turns out this
year to be a woman—Judy Patterson, no less.
Students who attend chapel may remember Judy as
the amazon who sang "We've Only Just Begun" days be-
fore the Christmas break. Judy is not the typical sheriff
that is associated with the goings on that often character-
ize Howard Payne's Western Days. Incidentally, sufficient
muscle for her job is provided by deputies Tommy Dulan
and Morrie Pickler. . ■
■
This Women's Liberation thing must have all started
early this semester when Senate passed out those women
survey questionnaires concerning dorm rules. Some people
must have taken that cue, and then really pressed for
women's rights on this campus.
Well, they got them.
