George Turner
Funeral for George Ross
Turner, 79, Aspermont barber
who died at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday,
Feb. 20, at his home following a
sudden illness, was at 10 a.m.
Thursday in First Methodist
Church.
Rev. Elmer Ward, pastor,
officiated. Graveside services
were held at 2 p.m. Friday in
Hooker Cemetery in Adams,
Okia., under direction of McCoy
Funeral Home of Aspermont.
Mr. Turner was born June 5,
1893, in Crowell. He married
Annie Ruth Lane on May 20,
1920, in Amarilio. He was a
veteran of World War I and a
Mason for 51 years. He had been
a sheriff of Stonewall County
and of Sherman County in
Stratford.
Survivors are his wife; one
son, George Ross Turner Jr. of
Liberal, Kans.; five daughters,
Mrs. Lynn Miller of Guyman,
Okja Mr®. Jim Warren and
Mrs. Fred Thompson, both of
Ft. Worth, Mrs. Rosalie
Hopkins of Columbus, Oh., and
Mrs. Bob Pearson of Lubbock;
21 grandchildren and 12 great-
grandhcildren.
David Moor
To Benefit
From Grant
David H. Moor, son of
Lonnie O. Moor, is one of 11
chemistry students who will be
benefiting from grant-
supported projects at Mid-
western University in Wichita
Falls.
A total of $186,000 in research
grants during the past six years
have come from the Robert A.
Welch Foundation of Houston
which supports basic chemical
research in Texas.
Moor, a sophomore, will be a
student assistant an "The
Structure and Bonding of Tin
Compounds." The research
involves the characterization of
compounds containing tin which
have a number of important
commercial and scientific uses.
These include use as herbicides,
as catalysts for other organic
reactions and commercial
synthesis and as coating in the
electronics industry.
Moor will be an assistant to
Dr. Rickey Williams, assistant
professor. Dr. Williams has
been notified that he is to
receive $15,000 annually for a
three-year period for research
on the above topic.

having trouble with' his boots.
Funeral services were held in
Corpus Christi Feb. 23 for Lloyd
Altman age 63. He was a former
citizen of Stonewall County and
a member of the Church of
Christ.
Those attending from here
were his sisters and brothers,
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Altman,
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hurst, Mrs.
John Boland, Mrs. Joe Craft
and Mr. and Mrs.
Dero Galloway.
Funeral services were held
Feb. 26 at Snyder for William
Cargile who was killed in a
plane crash.
William was a nephew of B. A
Cumbie and his wife was a niece
of Nolan Pittcock.

Grace Hoy, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Raymond Hoy, was
among students to achieve
academic averages high enough
to be included in the fall 1972
honor roll at Mary Hardin-
Baylor College, Belton.
Miss Hoy is a senior. While
attending MH-B, she has served
as president of Royal Academia
Society and chairman of Burt
Dormitory. She is also a
member of Human Relations
Club.
Under a 4.0 system, students
must have at least a 3.5 grade
average in order to qualify for
the honor list.
