TEACHERS AT PROGRAM
■> Honoring the teachers of the
Aspermont Public Schols was
the theme of the program when
the local Parent-Teacher Asso-
ciation met on Monday, April
24th in the high school cafe-
teria.
Mrs. U. W. Browne gave the
invocation by reading the P.-T.A.
prayer; Mrs. James R Hick-
man gave <vSalute to Our Teach-
ers"; Mrs. U. W. Browne gave
*Dear Teacher in Asparmont";
Mrs. Horace Brock gave "What
Is a Teacher?" Mrs. Bob Ru-
therftofd gave "Dear World".
"Apple for the Teacher"—
each room representative gave
the teacher a home-baked cake.
Mrs. France.'' Davis gave the re-
sponse for the teachers.
Mrs. Thelma Smith, presi-
dent, conducted a short business
meeting, at which time offi-
cers for the 1961-62 term were
elected. Those named are: Mrs.
Charls G. Abernathy, president;
Mrs. R. D. Kluting, vice-presi-
dsnt; Mrs. Wayne Yarborough,
secretary; Mrs. Doyle Pittcock,
treasurer; and Mrs. R. L. Huff-
man, parliamentarian.
" "Rooms receiving $2.00 for
the most percentage of signed
slips returned were: Mmes. Jo
Metcalf, Dorothy McMeans, Mar-
garet Poore, Ina Kennedy, Mae
Payne, and Willie Dippel, and
Mr. Truman Sherrod. Mrs. Ina
Kennedy's room also won the
$3 .00 award for having the most
parents present.
At the next P.-.T.A. meeting,
newly-elected officers will be
installed. Mrs. Horace B. Wood
of Spur wil be the installing

Miss 'lyilnia Lee Jones and
Raymond 'Monroe Edwards, both
of Aspermont, were united in
marriage on Friday, April 21st,
at 7:00 P.M., in the home of Mrs.
A. L.. Cope. The Rev. Oran D.
Smith, pastor of Aspermont First
Methodist Church, officiated at
the ceremony, assisted by Rev.
W. Thelon Jones, pastor of the
Aspermont Assembly of God
Church.
The bride is a senior in As-
permont High School. Her par-
ents are Rev. and Mrs. W.
Thelon Jones, of Aspermont.
The young couple will make
their home in Aspermont, where
the groom is an employee of
Calhoun Well Service.
PROUD PARENTS
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Mitchell
of Burnet, Texas, announce the
arrival of a baby girl, born on
Wednesday, April 10th, at 11:15
P.M. "tt Allen Clinic-Hospital at
Burnet. The little miss, named
Jill Caroline, weighed in at four
pounds, eight ounces. Mrs. Sally
Wright of Aspermont is the ma-
ternal grandmother, while Mr.
and Mrs. Pat Mitchell, Sr., also
of Aspermont, are the paternal
grandparents.
SON IS BORN
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Thigpen
cf this city are the proud par-
ents of a son, born on Sunday,
April 9th, at 7:15 A.M. in the
Hamlin Memorial Hospital. The
young man tipped the scales at
eight pounds, nine ounces, and
has been named Gary Wayne.
Maternal grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. L, D. Holcombe of
Haskell, while* Mr. and Mrs.
Jesse Thigpen of Aspermont are
the paternal grandparents.

Members of the Junior class J
of Aspermont High School en- '
joyed a novel party on last.
Monday evening, when they
were invited to go on a treas-
ure hunt by a group of Junior
parents, who hosted the party.
Joining Mrs. M. L. Jones, a
room mother, in hostess duties
were Sam Cochran and Mmes.
W. B. Swink, Clyde Dodson,
Glenn Hov, Bue! Bryan, A. A.
Wilson and A. L. Lawrence.
The various groups were given
lists containing a total of 12
articles, that were most diffi-
cul to find. Much fund was had
as each group reported with
stories of how they obtained
their articles, that, ranged from
snuff, to an egg slicer, to hair
from a horse's tail.

Mrs. A. D. Martin and Mrs.
Sally Wright were week-end
I visitors in Lake Buchanan and
Burnet, respectively, during the
past week-end. Mrs. Martin vis-
ited with Mr. and Mrs. George
Moore, former Aspermont resi-
dents; Mrs. Wright visited with
her son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Mitchell, and
their new daughter*
Mr. and Mrs Claude Penrod
have just returned home from
California, where they visited
with their son, Jimmy Penrod,
and family; and a daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Cub Holloman, and
family. Her mother, Mrs. O. K.
Cox, of Lubbock accompanied
O. K. HOYLE, 52
DIES. AT SEYMOUR
O. K. Hoyle, 52, field repre-
sentative for: the Texas Farm
Bureau, died at his home in
Seymour, April 21, after a
lengthy illness. He is survived
by his wife., Madeline, of Sey-
mour; and a daughter, Mrs. H. L.
Mitchell of Wichita Falls.
Funeral services were held at
the First Methodist Church in
6eymour, April 22.
Mr. Hoyle began his work for
the Texas Farm Bureau in 1951
as a district field representative.
He helped with organization ac-
tivities in county Farm Bureaus
in Northwest, North and North-
east Texas. He had been seri-
ously ill for more than a year
prior to his death, and had un-
dergone several major opera-
tions in a Dallas hospital.

Mrs. "Pete" Galloway, owner
The deceased was born Oct.
29 1908, on a farm in southern
Wise County, Tex. He attended
Weatherford Junior College,
Tarleton State College and Texas
A.&M. College. He received a
degree in agricultural education
from the latter institution in
1934.
Prior to his employment by
the Texas Farm Bureau, he had
served as a rural school teacher,
instructor of vocational agricul-
ture in high school, county agri-
cultural agent, and coordinator
and supervisor for veterans' vo-
cational schools.
Active in FFA work, Mr.
Hoyle had served on state and
area Lone Star and American
Farmer degree committees, and
on the state FFA chapter con-
test committee. He held the
honorary Lone Star Farmer de-
gree.

Last report from Mr. and Mrs.
C. E. Holloman, in California, ^
were that Mr. Holloman was
sick. We hope he will soon be
well.

our school will be out and as
