read the scripture lesson, the
Lord's Prayer was recited in con-
cert, the roll was called, etc.
Various matters were talked
over, and a vote of thanks was
tendered Mesdames Hibbard, Tom
Moody and Chambers for the many
nice tumblers and dishes recently
donated to the W. C. T. U.—a most
appropriate gift, as such articles
are almost constantly needed,
Many were broken during the past
year.
It is with sincere regret that we
see the Moody and Hibbard fami-
lies leave our town. We hope they
are leaving only for a short time.
The ladies, faithful, loyal members
of our union, were always ready
to do their part in all things. Mrs.
Moody gave us many an interesting
paper, while Mary Kathryn's rec-
itations will be remembered with
pleasure. Messrs. Hibbard and
Moody have been staunch friends
of our W. C. T. U. ever since the
organization November 26, 1902.
and have helped us in many ways.
We feel we voice the sentiment of
the entire town when we say they
will be sadly missed not only by
our little band but by the religious,
social and business circles of Ca-
nadian and vicinity. Our loss,
however, will be another town's
gain, and with their many friends
we wish these good people God-
' speed and happiness in their new
home.
I We were pleasantly surprised
I last week when we were informed
j by W. A. Palmer that the W. C. T
! U. had been presented with a ten-
;acre lease in the Phaller oil field by
I the following friends: Judd Mitch-
ell, Tom Moody, C. H. Shallcr, t. C.
jStuder, C. W. Allen. R. L. Blanton.
M. M. Beavers, Ivy Wilkerson and
J. II. Bishop. This gift is very
much appreciated, and the donors
. have our sincere thanks.
I At the meeting on January 7th
the annual reports will be heard
I We wish all departments to report
