COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE
SENATE BILL 1778 ON SECOND READING
Senator Van de Putte moved to suspend the regular order of business to take up
for consideration CSSB 1778 at this time on its second reading:
CSSB 1778, Relating to reporting of personal financial information by trustees
of certain junior college districts and to candidates for office of certain political
subdivisions; providing civil and criminal penalties.
The motion prevailed.
Senators Jackson and Whitmire asked to be recorded as voting "Nay" on
suspension of the regular order of business.
The bill was read second time.
Senator Brimer offered the following amendment to the bill:
Floor Amendment No. 1
Amend CSSB 1778 as follows:
(1) On page 1, line 22, strike "and"
(2) On page 1, line 23, strike "." and insert "; and"
(3) On page 1, between lines 23 and 24, add the following:
"(3) has more than seven trustees."
The amendment to CSSB 1778 was read and was adopted by a viva voce vote.
All Members are deemed to have voted "Yea" on the adoption of Floor
Amendment No. 1 except as follows:
Absent-excused: Janek, Staples.
Senator Lindsay offered the following amendment to the bill:
Floor Amendment No. 2
Amend CSSB 1778 as follows:
1. In SECTION 1 (committee printing page 1, between lines 23-24) redesignate
Subsection (b) to read as follows:
(b) This section does not apply to a junior college district which has 10 or more
school districts in two counties in its taxing district.
2. Reletter subsequent Subsections in SECTION 1 accordingly.
The amendment to CSSB 1778 was read and was adopted by a viva voce vote.
All Members are deemed to have voted "Yea" on the adoption of Floor
Amendment No. 2 except as follows:
Nays: Williams.
Absent-excused: Janek, Staples.
On motion of Senator Van de Putte and by unanimous consent, the caption was
