RAILROAD REDUCTIONS TO IMMIGRANTS.
From New York to Galveston via New Orleans, $31 31, and one hundred
pounds of baggage free. Children under five years free, between five and
twelve pay half price.
By Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad, if five or more :
From New York to Dennison, Grayson county, Texas ................$....40 00
From Chicago to Dennison, Grayson county .................................. 30 00
From St. Louis to Dennison, Grayson connty................................ 25 00
With one hundred and fifty pounds of baggage free to each, and same rate
for children as from New York to Galveston.
By New Orleans, Jackson and Great Northern railroad, from Humboldt,
Tennessee, to New Orleans: In lots of five to ten, four cents per mile; ten
to twenty, three and one-half cents per mile; over twenty, three cents per
mile. Children under three years free, three to twelve years two and one-
half cents per mile.
By New Orleans, Mobile and Texas railroad, three cents a mile.
By Mobile and Ohio railroad, Mobile and Montgomery railroad, Atlantic
and Western railroad, and their connections, three cents per mile; children
under three years free, between three and twelve half price; one hundred
pounds of baggage free.
By Memphis and Charleston railroad:
From Chattanooga to New Orleans via Memphis and river ............. $17 00
From Chattanooga to Shreveport via Memphis and river.................. 21 25
From Chattanooga to Galveston via Memphis and river ................ 26 00
All railroad and steamboat companies in Texas carry immigrants at half
price, and allow two hundred pounds of baggage free to each. In order to
obtain these reduced rates, a certificate from this Bureau or its agents is
necessary, proving the holders to be bona fide immigrants.
