the Fathers, you didn’t see the play as
many times as I did.
The behind-the-scenes workers were
equally important in bringing off the
latest Guild coup. Sue Porter, Rick
Pfeil. Carolyn Czerwinski and others
too numerous to nam° were respons!b’e
for the technical perfection of the play.
The musicians who were such an im-
portant part are also due an accolade.
The Shield recogn'zes the Un’versifv
of D^las Players Guild as one of the
most effective and affective organiza-
tions on campus.

The UD Players Guild is only four
years old. It has no logical reason to
expect to produce professional perform-
ances. Yet it has repeatedly and consist-
ently turned in professional work. Their
recent production “Under Milkwood,”
under the direction of Mr. Ronald Wil-
cox of the Dallas Theatre Center was
acclaimed by all who saw it. One success
a year is enough for anyone.
The Players Guild however, is not
just anyone. They have successfully
staged “The Fantasticks,” under the
capable direction of Mrs. Ann Schaef-
fers, also of the Dalas Theatre Center.
Jim Burton played opposite J’Ann Pea-
cock and Anne Butler in the serio-corrnc
romance. Gary Long and
again, Mortimer) Baynham were fabu-
lous as the Players, and
swept the stage as El Gallo. The many
