Cut-off Squad Starts Monday.
The city cut-off squad will start Mon-
day and service to all those who have
not paid their water arid light bills for
the month of March will be cut off. The
bills this month are said to nearly all
ot have beeti paid and there is expected
to be little for the squad to dq.

Negro Got Acquittal on Forgery Charge
at February Term.
.Through an error in Friday’s issue
the name of Fred Ayres was published
in the list of convicted Cases at' -the
February term of District court. The
negro was indicted by the Grand Jury
for forgery, but on trial of th? case
was acquitted. Ayres denied any know-
ledge of the case, in which he was
charged with forging the name of W.
B; Gregg to a check cashed by the First
Guaranty Stale bank here, and the ju-
ry returned a verdict of not guilty.

the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom J. Gist
on East Sycamore street were a total
loss by tire, and the contents of the
four other rooms were badly damaged.
The fire was of unlinoivn origin and
when discovered at about 2:30 o’clock
Saturday morning had gained a got*!
headway, but efficient work qn the part
of the fire department confined the
flames to three rooms of the -house.
The house w as insured .for $1,000 with
Bailey and Carlisle and the contents fqr
$500. It was impossible to secure an

was a partial loss by fire Friday night,
