MRS. NEELY AV KITES OF
t’HKIS'M AS .AT THE "HOME."
As I have not written for a while,
I will go back a little and begin at
Thanksgiving, and can say that we
bad a very pleasant day, with a big
least of turkey and the usual ac-
< eMortoc. and while we were still
at the tables, one of the brethren
treated us to a real spicey Thanks-
Living spew'h, after which we repair-
ed to our rooms with a desire, 1
trust, to be more grateful in the fu-
ture for all the blessings of this tair
land, and especially for our good
home. Soon our thoughts w,re
turned toward the Yuletide. the
gladdest season of the year, remind-
ing us of God's great love in the gift
of His only begotten Son for our
redemption; and of the brotherhood
of man, as indicated by the visit of
Santa Claus with his wealth of gifts
for all
Ojr't’hristmas eve the children at
tlyc other home had their tree,
whic h filled their arms with Presents
and their hearts with Christmas
love Mr- Bedinger came down- on
Christmas day and brought us
greetings from the children, saying
they were all well, barring a few
with colds and one with a broken
leg. Oj>r Christmas dinner was
simply immense- eight turkeys,
celery, cranberry sauce, cake, am-
brosia and what- not? No, we did
not consume all of these good things
but We reduced the quantity ' smart-
ly." At 3 o'clock we were called to
inspect the tree and receive its con-
tents When all w<re seated Past
Grand Master Cochyan. who is pres-
ident of the board of directors, ad
dressed us on the subject of Mason-
ry and its workings. He said in part:
• The Knights Templars meet at
the same hour the world over—in
New York at 12. tn Dallas at 1. in
El Paso at 2, in San Francis'o at
3. and so on. making a complete and
simultaneous circuit of the globe, to
plan for the various inter.-s’s of
Masonry, and this beautiful tree is
one expression of what they leave
in their path.”
He was followed by Mrs. Hill,
grand matron of the Order of East-
ern Star, who spoke of the work of
that order In alleviating the suffer-
ing and supporting the needs of the
poor and unfortunate
Grand Treasurer Frogmeyer then
look charge and pi-oceded to call
out the presents, which were dis-
tributed by the little visiting girls
Mrs Wilson, who is 90 years old ami
totally blind, walked out to see (?)
the tree, and seemed to enjoy the
i resents as much as th.- little girls
enjoyed their dolls Packages had
been HAST try express and by mail to
the Inmates, but Mrs Johnson held
them back for the tree, so we had
loads of things, both useful an<t».ftx
namental. I had to procure a sub-
stitute as it takes my bands as ».ell
as my fret to walk But my "goods ’
got home all right, and so did I; glad
that I can wa'k. even with crutches
Mr Johnson and his estimable wife
are still in high favor with this
household and Mr -Cochran assured
me that they will remain Indefinite-
ly. provided, of course that we do
right , So we are trying to "be
good.’’ for we cannot e'en think of
their leaving ns

the matrons, look well afterthe sic k
mid tie chamber work, and every-
thing runs systematically. The
health of the Home is fairly good,
there being only one now confined
in her room, and that is a very
good showing in a company of forty
old i>eople.
With hearty good wishes for the
success of the Record and Chronicle,
and wishing yoy a happy New Year.
' 1 am sincerely yotirs.
