Normal college was held In the au

tended by a crowd that more than
filled the room. Extra chairs had to
be brought in to furnish seats for

Mulkey, who lives on the Garnett
place north of Dentrtn, had his big
badly broken late Sunday evening

A rather clever piece of detective
work on the part of Sheriff Orr
Tuesday bagged a prisoner, Mac
Ballinger, and recovered for W. T.
Kirby a twenty dollar bill that the

all time. ..
Mr. Kirby lives near Hebron and
had come to Denton ttCfiay oTf a Hue
for someone. He was accompaul?J
by Ballinger, whp lives with Mr.
Kirby. On arriving here Mr Kirby
went direct to the sheriff's office
and rounted out the money due on
the fine to Mr. Orr. A $20 bill
was, he thought, stuffed back into
his pocket, but a few minutes later
he discovered that the bill was gone.
Ballinger was called in and the "sher-
iff and young man assisted Mr. Kir-
by in searching big- Vlothes for the
money. Sheriff Orr then searched
Ballinger, but did not find the mon-
jey. After the two bad left for the
railroad station Mr. Orr happened to
think that he had not looked in Bal-
linger's hat and followed the pair
to the station. Another search of
Ballinger's clothing revealed the $20
bill hidden in the lining of his hat
