Officer Bill Wells went to the
scene of a disturbance at East
Foothills Apartments. He advised
A subject brought in his juve-
nile niece who had allegedly been
sexually assaulted. Officers dis-
covered the alleged incident had
happened out of the city. The
matter was referred to the Smith
County Sheriff’s Department.
It was reported to the Police
Department that someone had
placed a smoke bomb inside a
local nursing center and activ ated
it. No serious damage was done,
other than a bum in the carpet.
A caller reported unknown
persons shooting at his dogs in
his backyard. Officers spoke with
the parents of a juvenile who had
been shooting a BB gun and ad-
vised them to see that the child
stopped shooting the gun.
Officer James Burnette arrested
Justin Lee Collins on S. Main for
Driving While Intoxicated.
Lindale Police was notified by
a homeowner on Van Street that
subjects had entered her vacant
house and garage area and did
some damage. Officers are now
keeping a close watch on the
area.
Subjects reported persons com-
ing and going from a vacanthouse
onNorth College. Officers found
no subjects at the house but did
find the back door open.
A resident on Pearl Street re-
ported her neighbor’s dog was
digging in her yard. The owners
of the animal were advised to
keep it under control.
Several storage buildings at
Hide-A-Way Lake Storage were
broken into on December 28.
Mr. Blackbum, a Hide-A-Way
Lake resident, reported a large
amount of tools being taken from
his building. All of his tools are
engraved with the initials VLB.
If anyone has information about
the tools, please contact the
Constable ’ s office. There will be
a $200 reward for any informa-
tion in this case.

that store personnel had a shop-
lifter in custody. Officer James
Burnette brought the subject back
to the police station where she
was issued a citation for a Class
C theft. She will meet with Judge
Earl Baldwin this week.

Smith's Pharmacy is now located. It was open from March, 1955 to
September, 1966 and was owned by Frank and Launa Jordan. It was
purchased from Bob Hamill. House specialities included homemade pies,
25-cent hamburgers, 5-cent coffee, and their 75-cent dinner of three
vegetables, a meat, dessert, and a drink. Pictured in front on bar stools are
F.W. Jordan, Jr. and Butch Falwell. The waitress behind the counter is
Inez Melvin. Launa Jordan is standing in the back by the jukebox. (This

Constable Taylor was con-
tacted January 2 by Van Zandt
County Sheriff’s Department to
assist in locating two burglars
who had been caught by the
owner of the house and had run
off into the woods.
One suspect was caught im-
mediately and another suspect
turned himself in around mid-
night. Officers assisted included
Constable Taylor and Deputy
Constables Randy Bateman,
Terry Crawford, and Kenneth
Spencer.
The Constable’s and J.P.’s of-
fice has now moved to the Town
Square Shopping Center. We are
located in the old Blackwell Fur-
niture building, Suite 15.
During the month of Decem-
ber the Constable ’ s office worked
91 cases, received 18 civil pa-
pers, served 13, received eight
warrants and served eight.
During the December Deputy
Constable's meeting, the group
enjoyed Christmas songs and
cookies provided by Brownie
Troop 498.
Constable Taylor and the depu-
ties would like to say thank you
to Brownies Casey Jones, Ashley
Kennedy, Randi Kizer, Priscilla
Roberts, Nicole Taylor, Erin
Ventress, and Elizabeth Wyatt.
CR 2710, found one of his dogs
poisoned. The dog as taken to the
veterinarian’s office where it was
determined that the animal was
poisoned by strychnine. This is
the second dog Dees has had
poisoned.
A Lindale Rural Water well on
CR 472 was reportedly vandal-
ized on December 26. The elec-
tric eye on the guard light had
been tom off.
The Constable’s office sus-
pects children have been climb-
ing the fence and climbing the
water well. We would like to
remind all parents to let their
children know it is illegal to do
this. There is a $200 reward for
information on any of the cases
we have mentioned.
Wood County Sheriff’s De-
partment contacted Constable
Taylor on December 30 and
asked for “Sugar” to come to
Quitman. A search warrant was
executed in the Hainsville area
by Wood County Sheriff’s De-
partment and marijuana was
found at the residence.
Deputy Constable Jody Nelson
assisted Smith County Sheriff’s
Department and Constable
Charles Wilson in the search for
a young boy who had wandered
away from his home in the
Starville area. The youth was

patched to the Roadrunner in ref-
erence to a forgery. Officer Wells
made contact with the store clerk
and the suspect, Jackie Randall
Martin. Martin had attempted to
cash a check by forging the other
parties name. The clerk knew the
other person and knew Martin
was not that person.
Officer Wells also noticed the
suspect was intoxicated and he
was transported to the Lindale
Police Department.
He was arrested for Forgery
and Public Intoxication and later
transported to Smith County Jail.
Bond was set for the Forgery at
$10,000 and for the Public In-
toxication at $2,000.
The Constable’s office has had
several animal calls. On Decem-
ber 31, Donna Vondra, CR 4119
lost three dogs. It is believed that
the dogs were stolen.
The animals missing are a
black, male, American husky/
chow mix. He has white in the
middle of his forehead and chest
and answers to the name of
“Skunk”.
A second dog is a brown, male,
husky/shepherd mix that has
black streaks and white on his
chest. He answers to the name of
“Brown Dog”.
The third dog is a black, fe-
male, lab/chow mix with white
paws, chest and tail. It answers
to the name of “Black Dog”.
If anyone has information on
these animals, please contact the
Constable’s office.

Monday, December 30
A Felony Theft of a Panasonic
VCR camera, valued at $800,
was taken from the East Foot-
hills Apartments on South Street.
Det. Sherryl Bolton and Sgt.
David Craft contacted the resi-
dents living in the apartment
complex and learned that four
juveniles were in the same apart-
ment when the theft occured ear-
lier that same evening.
After a complete investigation,
Sgt. Craft and Det. Bolton re-
ceived the camera in a wooded
area close to the apartments
where the juveniles lived.
On January 2, Det. Bolton re-
covered a cassette tape at one of
the juvenile’s residence that had
been taken during the burglary.
All four juveniles were taken
to Judge James Cowart and state-
ments were taken. They were
later released to the custody of
their parents.
The statements and reports
have been turned over to Smith
County Juvenile Probation per-
sonnel and the evidence is at the
Lindale Police Department’s
property room.
Officer Bill Wells responded
to a call at Nuway where sub-
jects in a white Chevrolet pickup
had set off fireworks and drove
away. He found no suspects in
the area.
Det. Sherryl Bolton responded
to a call of a dog bite that occured
on S. Henry. Bobby Sewell was
bitten by a German Shepherd. He
was transported to the hospital
by private car. The dog was quar-
antined at Hide-A-Way Small
Animal Clinic.
Leslie J. Hawkins was arrested
by Officer Randy Hammontree
after a routine traffic stop at Hwy.
69 and 1-20. He was charged
with Driving While Intoxicated.
Tuesday, December 31
Officers responded to a silent
alarm at NCNB. An investiga-
tion revealed nothing was wrong
and the alarm was reactivated.
A subject left the Racetrac
without paying for $12 of gas.
Officer James Burnette located
the subject on S. Main and fol-
lowed them back to the store
where they made restitution.
Saturday, January 4
“The Lindale Independent School
District is seeking bids for duplicat-
ing masters, spirit masters and lami-
nating film. Specifications and bid
information are available in the
Business Office of the Administra-
tion Building, 505 Pierce Street,
Lindale, Texas, telephone number
903-882-6157. Bids are to be re-
ceived in the Business Office no
later than Monday, January 27,1992,
at 10:00 AM and will be presented
to the Board of Trustees for ap-
proval at the regular meeting, Mon-
day, February 10,1992. The Board
of Trustees has the right to accept/
reject any and all bids.”

David Alexander Bell was ar-
rested by Sgt. David Craft on
outstanding DPS warrants. He
paid his fine and was released.
Troy Glenn Hortman was ar-
rested following a routine traffic
stop on N. Main. Sgt. David Craft
arrested him on outstanding DPS
warrants.
