tions, and be released by their unit to participate.

Certification Classes
Lifeguard and waterfront certifica-
tion classes will be held March 23-28,
April 6-11, April 20-25, May 4-9,
June 4-18 and June 11-15 at the
indoor pool at 62nd Street and Sup-
port Avenue Bldg. 23001. Fort Hood-
area swimming pools require lifeguard
certification. BLORA Beach requires
lifeguard and waterfront certification.
Classes are set for 5-9 p.m. Mon-
day-Wednesday; 7-9 p.m., Friday and
8-5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday; the
first day of class, participants must
pass these skills in order to continue
in the class.
It is strongly recommended that
candidates practice the prerequisites
before attending the course.
• Swim continuously, using front
crawl and breast stroke (must demon-
strate rhythmic breathing — face in the
water).

Resilience Expo
A Fort Hood Resilience Expo is
set for 9-11:30 a.m. March 22 at the
Resiliency Campus on Battalion Ave.

Blvd. Unclaimed and impounded
vehicles will be auctioned off at the

mat will be used with open bidding.
All sales are final “as is, where is,
no warranty.” All major credit cards
accepted.
The cost is $2 and includes bidding
card and auction listing.

American Red Cross Fort Hood
announced applications will be avail-
able today for the 2018 Dental Assis-
tant training program. Individuals
must submit their application no later
than April 27.
Fort Hood Dental Health Activity
Command trains Red Cross Volun-
teers in the basic skills necessary to
work as dental assistants.
The Dental Assistant training pro-
gram is from September 2018 to May
2019 completing 900 hours of didac-
tics and chairside training receiving
certificate of completion. The appli-
cant selection process includes a pre-
screening exam (score 80 percent) and
interview process to be selected for the
Dental Assistant Training program.
Applications are available at the
Fort Hood Red Cross office. To
review the program fact sheet or for
more information contact the Ameri-

• Lifeguard class: 300-meter swim
• Waterfront class: 550-meter
swim
• Two-minute tread using just the
legs, with hands under your armpits.
• Timed brick. Within one minute
40 seconds, swim 20 yards using front
crawl or breast stroke, surface dive to
10-12 feet, retrieve a 10 pound brick,
return to surface and swim back to
start.
In addition for waterfront class:
• Swim five meters, submerge and
retrieve three rings placed five meters
apart, resurface and continue to swim
five meters to complete.
The cost is $150 for the lifeguard
class and $175 for the waterfront life-
guard class. To register for classes, call

Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt
A Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt is set
for 6 p.m. March 29 at Belton Lake
Outdoor Recreation Area.
More than 65,000 eggs and priz-
es hidden for your kids. Pre-hunt
activities including inflatables, games,
magic act, concessions and photos
with the Easter Bunny begin at 6 p.m.
Don’t forget to bring a flashlight,
egg basket and an adult.
The gate closes precisely at 8:15
p.m. and the hunts begin at 8:30 p.m.
Arrive early to allow adequate time
to enter the gate park and locate the
appropriate hunting field. The event
is open to all. Hunt age groups are 2-3
years, 4-7 years and 8-12 years. An
adult is required to hunt with children
2-7 years of age.

JR NBA
Youth Sports & Fitness is hosting
Fort Hood JR NBA World Cham-
pionship Basketball tryouts March
12-16.
The event is looking for players
to fill a girls and boys team that will
compete in the JR NBA/JR WNBA
World Championship, begining with
regionals on June 15-17 in Frisco.
Youth must be 13-14 prior to Sept.
1 and birth certificate validation will
be necessary at tryouts.
Boys tryouts are slated for 6-8
p.m. March 12-14 at Bronco Youth
Center. Girls tryouts are set for 6-8
p.m. March 15-16 at High Chaparral
Youth Center. The events are free and

The Soldier for Life-Transition Assistance Program center is in the Copeland Soldier Service Center, Bldg. 18010. The
TAP office and its computer lab is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but closed from 11:30 a.m.-l p.m. Thurs-
days. Soldiers are required by-law to begin transition activities no later than 366 days prior to separation. Appointments are
required for seminars and workshops.

days, but closed for federal holidays.
