DR. J. M. COHEN Optometrist 416 MAIN ST. PRESTON 3243 HOUSTON, TEXAS Feb 3, 1953 The Honarable Truett Latimer %The House of Representatives State Capitol Building Austin, Texas Dear Mr. Latimer: I am writting in regards to House Bill #5. This bill, as stands, gives complete and undisputed dictorial rights to the Board of Examinators in Optometry and would tend to deprive many practicing Optometrist of earning a livelihood, which is against all principles of our democrocy. Any bill passed by the legislator that would prohibit private enterprise is certainly of no value to the public interest. A bill of this type would place the cost of eye care tbove the level of a great majority of our population and would therefore deprive them of better vision. Your assistance in defeating this bill will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely yours, J. M. Cohen, O.D.
