fall weather with daytimes
in the low 80's and nighttimes
in the high 60's. Partly cloudy

Franklin's are visiting the
Buster Smithers. They are
Mildred's parents who now re-
side in Eckert, Colorado. Also
recent visitors are Mr. and
Mrs. Ray McDaniel of East
Vaughn, New Mexico. Mrs.
McDaniel is Mildred's sister.

San Angelo were recent visi-
tors in the V. C. Snodgrass
home. Mrs. White is a Grade
School friend of Betty's.

wayne Wright of Austin, and
their five children. Mrs.
Wright is a sister of Joy's.

attended the Fabens Cotton
Festival in Fabens on Satur-
day night. Jack helped judge

chritude vying for Maid of
Cotton representative from

Mr. and Mrs. John Orman of
Snyder, Oklahoma, have been
visiting in the home of the
Dewayne Barkers the past
week. They are June's parents.

Dell Valley - The Hudspeth County Fair Building is shaping up
nicely. This large 150 by 60 foot building will soon be completed.
Tentative plans’are to have the Oct. 15 Fair Dance in it. Located
one and one-half miles west of Dell City, this building marks the
first step toward a permanent Fair Grounds.

Hedging in the Market Place
We have seen the effect of hed-
ge selling during the past week
or two. When prices advanced
sharply, selling on resting or-
ders became a very important
factor. In other words, orders
were in the market prior to the
price advances and, as the mar-
ket advanced, these contracts
were sold. They were sold at
a price which the individual
feeder felt represented his max-
imum merchandising profit.
He, therefore, knows what his
rate of return will be in a fut-
ure month. He has managed to
fix a set rate of return for his
investment. This has been the
practice of large commercial
grain companies for some time.
It is just beginning to be used
by the cattle operator. In other
words, when a cattle feeder has
examined his costs (i. e., feeder
costs, feed costs, insurance,
interest rates, etc. ), he feels
