General Election
Total returns in the general election. .v.
2, 1948, are given below for all sti. -- side
races and for those congressional and civill
appellate court races in which there was
opposition to the Democratic nominees. These
are official returns as canvassed by the Leg-
islature in the contests for Governor and
Lieutenant Governor, and as canvassed by
the State Canvassing Board in the other
contests. Total vote for constitutional amend-
ments voted upon Aug. 23, 1947, and Nov. 2.
1948, are also given below. On succeeding
pages are given county-by-county vote in the
general election for Governor and the presi-
dential race in Texas. Returns for the Demo-
cratic primaries (totals and county-by-county)
will be found in preceding tables.
(Note.-Figures below represent full official
tabulation. However, a number of Texas
counties did not report within the time pre-
scribed by law. Three counties failed to
make any report. Thirty-seven did not re-
port on the presidential and vice-presidential
race. Forty-two failed to make returns in
the United States Senate contest. Varying
numbers failed to report In the other state-
wide races.)
