Texas State Government Receipts-Sources;
Funds Into Which Paid
The following table is a detailed statement of the amounts and sources of receipts to the
State Government of Texas for the fiscal year ended Aug. 31, 1948. as shown by the State
Comptroller of Public Accounts. The sources are indicated under the classifications of taxes,
licenses, fees, permits, sales of land and commodities, rentals and royalties, court costs and
fines. interest and penalties, federal aid, county aid and miscellaneous. The receipts are
divided into two general classifications, namely, "revenue receipts." which refers to receipts
which are used for government operations, and "nonrevenue receipts," which refers to money
received for bond redemptions, deposits subject to repayment and similar items.
The table shows the funds into which these receipts are deposited, indicating in most
instances the purposes for which they are available. For example, the first item in the table
shows that the ad valorem tax brought to the state a total of $27,540,321.14-of which $11,748,-
227.38 was paid into the general revenue fund, $14,801,509.01 into the available school fund.
