world and is presented particularly to show the effect of crop control and adjustment programs on
United States foreign trade and foreign competition All figures are from the New York Cotton
Exchange and data from Dr. A B. Cox, director, Bureau of Business Research of the University of
Texas Because of the war, data on foreign consumption are not available for the last few seasons.
Acreage is in thousands of acres, production in thousands of bales, with American in running bales and
foreign in equivalent bales of 478 pounds net weight, exports in thousands of running bales and foreign

estimated However, the table below, taken from New York Cotton Exchange, the United States
Department of Agriculture and data from Dr A B Cox, director, Bureau of Business Research, Univer-
sity of Texas, shows progress of the industry abroad into the world conflict Figures are in thousands
